How to build a LAN on the local machine through VPC

A few days ago at home to test a WS-AT-based distributed application, but the connection company Network VPN problems, had to use VPC in the Local Machine to build a LAN. Although I have made such an attempt before, it may have been a long time before, and I cannot remember some details, so I have been tossing around for a while. Here, I wrote an article specifically to introduce the entire process of building a LAN Based on VPC. There is no technical content, so I only need to give a reference to a friend who has the same needs.

My current Host Machine is Windows 7 Ultimate (X64) and Virtual Machine is Windows Server 2008 (X86. This article does not address how to secure the VPC. It only involves how to make the Host PC and VPC the two hosts that can be connected to each other in the same LAN. The following are three main steps:

Step 1: Install the Microsoft Loopback Adapter Network Adapter

Open Device Manager, right-click the host name, and select "Add legacy hardware" from the context menu ".

If the Next Welcome to the Add Hardware Wizard object is displayed, click "Next.

In the following dialog box, select the second option "Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)", and click "Next.

In the displayed dialog box, select "Network adapter" in the hardware type list and click "Next.

In the hardware Installation Wizard, go to the next Select Network Adapter, Select Microsoft from the hardware vendor list, and Select Microsoft Loopback Adapter from the Network Adapter list ", click "Next.

In The displayed "The wizard is ready to install your hardware" dialog box, click "Next" to install The hardware.

Step 2. Set the VPC network Adapter to Microsoft Loopback Adapter

Open the Virtual PC Console, select the corresponding VPC, and click the Setting button to set it.

On the VPC settings panel, select "Networking" in the Settings Project, select the Microsoft Loopback Adapter we just installed as the network Adapter, and click OK to confirm.

Step 3. Set the IP addresses of Host Machine and Virtual Machine

In Host Machine, open the Network and Sharing Center and click the Channe Adapter Setting link to enter the Network Connections window.

Right-click the Microsoft Loopback Adapter-based Connection (Local Area Connection 2) and select Proeprties from the context menu to enter the Connection Properties window.

Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties to set the IP address. The IP address and subnet mask are 192.168.0.6 and 255.255.255.0 respectively.

Then, set the IP address for the corresponding link of the Virtual Machine according to the above steps and set it to the same network segment. The IP address and subnet mask I use are 192.168.0.8 and 255.255.255.0 respectively.

So far, Host Machine and Virtual Machine have become two hosts in the same LAN. You can directly use the VPC interface to operate Virtual Machine, but I am used to using Remote Desktop. In addition, you can set the firewall according to specific security requirements.
