Due to the limited funds, I bought a TL-WR841N wireless router and 2 TL-WN821N 11N wireless usb Nic for testing. However, the central office still needs to use IPv6 networks frequently to manage and maintain servers in IPv6 networks. However, the layer-3 function of this wireless router does not support IPv6, so I want to use the Layer 2 function of the wireless router as a wireless switch, so that the router can be connected to both the IPv6 network and the IPv4 network. However, there are a series of problems. First, how to ensure the security of wireless networks, if you enter the office network through wireless networks, you can control many important servers. So we first think of wireless network encryption, you can use WEP, WPA/WPA2, WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK and other encryption methods, but after testing found that once the wireless network encryption, the host cannot correctly obtain the IPv6 global unicast address or ping the IPv6 gateway. At the beginning, I also found a lot of information on the Internet, but there was very little useful content, and many people raised the question that using a wireless router cannot use an IPv6 network, I have some doubts about whether the IPv6 network can be connected through the L2 function of the wireless router. Finally, give up wireless encryption and adopt an open wireless network connection. As a result, IPv6 addresses can be correctly obtained when an open wireless network is used, which may give a small inspiration to those who want to connect to IPv6 while using a wireless network. As to what caused it, I found a lot of information and did not get the answer. I guess the reason is that the router is not compatible with the IPv6 ICMPv6 protocol and the Neighbor Discovery protocol and the wireless encryption protocol. However, it is not safe to encrypt the wireless network. Once a person connects to the LAN through the wireless network, all servers in the center and all switches in the network can be controlled. Therefore, we can only solve this problem through other security measures. First, we change the SSID Number of the wireless router to XXXX that is only known by the internal staff, and then disable the SSID broadcast. In this way, when searching for available wireless networks in Windows, we will not find our wireless network. In addition, to be more secure, we have enabled the wireless MAC address filtering function to prohibit mac addresses other than the mac addresses of wireless NICs in the office from connecting to our LAN through wireless networks. 2:

We know that this is not absolute security. Hackers can also use some measures to Disable SSID broadcast and MAC address filtering. However, we are currently trying to test the security of wireless networks, this serves as the basis for large-scale wireless network deployment in the school. Therefore, only these two security policies are implemented for the time being. Most importantly, in order to use a wireless network while using an IPv6 network, we can only temporarily sacrifice the security of the wireless network.
