1. Start parallels Desktop.
2. In the parallels Virtual machine list, select the virtual machine for which you want to create a snapshot.
3. Click on "Virtual Machine" > "Manage Snapshots".
4. Click "New", set the snapshot name and click "OK".
Note When you create a snapshot:
1. You cannot create snapshots for Windows virtual machines that use the boot camp partition.
2. If a virtual machine has one or more snapshots, the size of the virtual hard disk cannot be compressed or resized.
3. Create a snapshot to increase the virtual machine. The size of the PVM package.
To automate the creation of a virtual machine restore point, which is to automatically create snapshots for the virtual machine, the SmartGuard feature automatically creates snapshots.
Note: SmartGuard is available only if the Undo Disks feature is disabled and the virtual machine is not running in safe mode.
How do I create snapshots automatically?
1. Start parallels Desktop.
2. In the parallels Virtual machine list, select the virtual machine for which you want to create a snapshot.
3. Click on "Virtual Machine" > "Configuration".
4 Click "Security".
To automatically create a snapshot, enable SmartGuard, click "Details" and do the following:
• Please select for time Machine optimization. If this option is selected, a snapshot will be created every 48 hours. Time Machine does not back up the entire virtual machine while backing up the Mac, but only its latest snapshot. This reduces the amount of data that time Machine needs to back up, reduces the times it takes to back up a virtual hard disk, and minimizes the risk of possible data loss or corruption when restoring a virtual machine hard disk from a time Machine backup.
• Manually set the snapshot frequency and save the maximum number of snapshots. If you want to know when to create the next snapshot and you can discard the snapshot creation, select the Notify me before snapshot creation option.
How to set how often to create a virtual machine:
• Use the "Log snapshot Interval" bar, which can be set from 1-48 hours. If the time interval is less than 24 hours, SmartGuard will allow the latest hourly, daily, and weekly snapshots to be restored. If the time interval is greater than 24 hours, the latest daily, weekly, and monthly snapshots can be restored.
How to limit the number of snapshots stored:
• Use the "number of snapshots to save" column to set the maximum number of snapshots stored on the Mac. You can save up to 100 snapshots. When the snapshot manager reaches the upper limit of the snapshot and needs to create a new snapshot, it deletes the oldest snapshot.
After you create a virtual machine restore point, if there is a problem with the virtual machine, you can revert to a restore point saved by the virtual machine.
