In Windows systems, it is inevitable that you will not be able to delete files in a normal way. In particular, users who use Windows XP systems have a higher frequency of encountering such problems. In order to relieve the user's confusion, we will try to effectively remove those stubborn files through various unconventional means.

I. The conventional method of deleting stubborn documents

1. After restarting the Windows operating system, delete the files in the usual manner.

2. Delete the commands in the DOS (or command prompt) interface with Del, deltree, and so on.

3. Remove using third-party tools that are not Windows Explorer, such as Total Commander, ACDSee, FlashFXP, Nero, and so on that have browse folders.

4. If you have more than two operating systems installed, you can remove files from other operating systems on the current system.

5. Press F8 at startup to select Enter Safe mode to perform the delete operation.

Ii. deletion of "other programs in use" document

Problem performance:

Windows XP system, ready to delete a large volume of AVI format files, but the system is always prompted not to perform the delete operation, and other programs in use, even if you just boot into the Windows system.

Problem solving:

Method 1: Open Notepad, click the menu bar "file" → "Save As", the name file and you want to delete the file name consistent (including extension), and then replace, you will find that the capacity of 0 KB. At this point, the Delete command can be executed.

Method 2: Create a new folder in the same directory as the AVI file and reboot. Now, do not choose that AVI file, first select the newly created folder, and then press CTRL + that AVI file, to perform the deletion operation.

Method 3: Change the extension of the AVI file to any other invalid file type, and then perform the delete operation.

Method 4: There is a permanent way to disable the Windows XP Media preview function, click the "start" → "Run", enter: "CMD" after the return. Then, under the Command Prompt window, enter: regsvr32/u shmedia.dll

The preview function of the video file will be uninstalled after the carriage return confirmation operation. In the future, when you need to restore the video File preview feature, type in the command prompt: regsvr32 shmedia.dll command.

Method 5: Start the media player that has played the AVI file, and open another file. After that, try deleting it again.

Method 6: Can be deleted with the WinRAR program, right-click the AVI file, select "Add to Compressed File" in the pop-up menu, and select the "delete source files after compressing" checkbox in the "General" tab of the pop-up window. When the operation is confirmed, the compression operation is performed. Finally, delete the compressed file.

Method 7: Bring up the Windows Task Manager, in which you choose to end the explorer process, but do not close the window at this time. At this time, there will be a situation like a panic. We switch to the Apps tab, click on the "New Task" button, enter Explorer.exe and confirm the operation. After that, the desktop is back to normal again, then delete operation can be done.

Third, the ingenious deletion "not empty folder" or "Bad file"

Problem performance:

Under Windows XP system (NTFS partition format), either in the resource Manager or the Third-party tool can not delete the specified file, such as the total Commander Delete, the first prompt folder Non-empty, confirmed no response. Even with a DOS disk boot, loading the NTFS for DOS Pro writable version, also cannot be deleted, the hint is "bad filename", but you can see the folder.

Problem solving:

In this case the file cannot be deleted most likely because of the long file name in the NTFS format. We can reduce the length of the path by using the 8.3 format to narrow the length or change some of the directory names in the path. For example, you can temporarily change certain directories in the path to names, or use the 8.3 format in command-line mode. For example, the "Linux Faq" directory becomes "Linuxf~1", "linuxf~1" can be entered into the directory, then you can use the del command to delete the specified file. If you need to delete the directory, use the RD command.

Skillfully Delete the "specify program or file is in use" file

Problem performance:

When you perform a delete file operation, you are prompted in the pop-up dialog box to specify that the program or file is in use and that you cannot delete such warning messages.

Problem solving:

Method 1: For this type of situation, we can resolve the problem by ending the process associated with the pre-deletion file. So how do you know which processes the specified file is associated with? You can use the Wholockme tool to find out. We run "Install.exe" to install the program first.

Below, enter the directory where the pre-deletion file is located, right-click the file, and select "Who Lock Me" in the pop-up menu.

The "Lockers" window pops up, where we know all the processes that are currently calling the file.

When the process name is selected, click the Kill process button and pop up the "kill-confirmation" dialog box, where you can click "Yes" to confirm the end of the procedure. After all the corresponding processes have been completed, you can delete the specified file from the normal path.

Tip: In fact, this method is especially suitable for the removal of Trojan server, this very threatening small dongdong only blocked all of its related processes can be deleted.

Method 2: If the DLL dynamic-link library file called by the specified program or file is not released in memory, the file is also prompted for use when it is deleted. In this case, we delete the system's paging file in the DOS environment, and the Windows 9X system is "WIN386." SWP file (located in the Windows directory of the system disk) and a "Pagefile.sys" file (located in the system's root directory) in the Windows 2000/XP system.

Method 3: If the system resident virus firewall, and it is scanning the scan is checking the files you are ready to delete, then the system will also be prompted to use the file. At this point, we just need to pause the real-time monitoring operation.

Clever deletion of other types of strange files

1. User rights issues prevent files from being deleted

If the current Windows user logon status does not have permission to delete the specified file/folder (for the Windows nt/2000/xp/2003 operating system), just log back in as an administrator.

2. Illegal characters cause files or folders to not be deleted

If the file or folder cannot be deleted because of illegal characters, you can enter the directory where you want to delete the file in the command prompt interface, enter "Dir>del.bat", and use the DOS Pipe command to automatically enter the list of files in the current directory into the batch processing command file "Del.bat". Then modify the batch command file to keep only the file or directory name, and add "del" or "RD" before the file or directory name, and then run the batch command to remove it.

3. Cannot delete any files in the system

Check to see if the system has anti-deletion protection software installed, and if so, remove it.
