Serv-U is a widely used FTP server software that supports Windows 9x/2000/XP operating systems. It is easy to install and has powerful functions. You can use the same IP address to set multiple FTP servers, restrict logon user permissions, log on to the main directory and space, and support remote logon management.

1. Install Serv-U
The installation of Serv-U is quite simple. You only need to double-click the downloaded Installation File and click "NEXT" as prompted.

Note: When selecting the installation directory, it is best to install it in a non-system disk to avoid further account setting when system exceptions occur in the future.

2. Set Serv-U
During the first run of Serv-U, the user is prompted step by step as a wizard. Next, we will explain them separately:

"Your IP Address": If you use ADSL or other methods to dial up the Internet, some are dynamic IP addresses or do not know the IP address of the Local Machine. Leave this blank.

"Domain Name": the name of the FTP site. For example, Myftp.

"Anonymous Account": determines whether the FTP site is accessible to anonymous users. Select "yes.

"Anonymous main directory": sets the directory location after an anonymous user logs on to the site. Enter "C: \ Ftp ".

"Locked in main directory": If the directory location after anonymous user logon is set to "C: \ Ftp \ Guest" in "anonymous main directory", after "yes, after anonymous users log on to FTP, they are locked in the C: \ Ftp \ Guest directory. They can only view the contents in the Guest directory and cannot access the "Ftp" directory at the upper level ", at the same time, the directory is displayed as "\" in the FTP client software. If it is not locked, it is displayed as "C: \ Ftp \ Guest ". Select "yes ".

"Named account": determines whether to create an account with certain administrative permissions. Select "yes ".

"Account name": the logon name of an account with certain management permissions.

"Account password": Set the Account Logon password.

"Main directory": similar to "anonymous main directory", it is used to set the directory location after managing account logon. Enter "C: \ Ftp ".

"Locked in main directory": Select "yes ".

"Administrator permission": used to set the management permission level for the management account. Select "no permission" here ".

Tip: these settings are not final settings. You can modify them at any time on the main Serv-U Interface.

3. Use the same IP address to set up multiple FTP servers
If the bandwidth permits, you can use the same IP address to easily set up multiple servers. In Serv-U, each FTP server in the "Domain" under "local server" is called "domain". The FTP server we created above is a domain named "MyFtp. To set up multiple servers, you must create multiple domains with different ports.

Right-click "Domain" and select the "new domain" command. In the displayed wizard, refer to "MyFtp" for settings, but do not conflict with the port of the created "Domain" or the port occupied by other system services at the port. If you enter 22. In the same operation, you can set up multiple FTP servers.

4. Make FTP more professional
When you log on to some Professional FTP sites, some welcome information will be displayed, such as displaying your IP address, telling you how many people are using FTP and how much bandwidth are there ...... In fact, you can also do it yourself. Serv-U itself has this function. The following describes how to add this information to your intranet FTP.

Create a text file first and use a name. For example, message.txt.

Add the explanatory text to the text file. For example:

Welcome to XXX's personal FTP Server

Your IP address is % IP

The current server time is % time

% U24h users have accessed the FTP in the last 24 hours

The FTP server has been running for % ServerDays, % ServerHours and % ServerMins.

Total number of logged-on users: % loggedInAll total

Current number of logged-on users: % Unow

Number of downloaded Bytes: % ServerKbDown Kb

Number of uploaded Bytes: % ServerKbUp Kb

Number of downloaded files: % ServerFilesDown

Number of uploaded files: % ServerFilesUp

Average server bandwidth: % ServerAvg Kb/sec

Current server bandwidth: % ServerKBps Kb/sec

Here, XXX can be changed to your name, or you can add some text you think you like, but note that it is best not to exceed 80 characters in each line, some Variables start with %, and the following are variables that the SERV-U can support:
