1. Use UPnP features

UPnP (Universalplugandplay, Universal Plug and Play) is a technology based on TCP/IP protocol used in the Internet and LAN. For users who use the WinXP operating system, the UPnP support module is not installed by default, so we need to install it manually. First, open Add/Remove Programs and go to Windows build. Then, in the Windows Components Wizard, tap Network Services-Verbose, and then select the Universal Plug and Play check box. After restarting, WinXP prompts to find new hardware, and when you go into your network Neighborhood you will find the router, which means that the UPnP feature is turned on. In addition, the UPnP feature in BT download software needs to be turned on.

Internet users through the wireless network is in the intranet, in order to ensure that Peer-to-peer software such as BT work properly, open UPnP is necessary, and most wireless routers have this feature. (UPnP defaults for most wireless routers are turned off, and users can manually turn on the feature and restart the router to take effect)

It is not necessary to use the "Automatic port mapping" feature of UPnP, but it is still necessary to use UPnP to support UPnP-enabled network firewall software (such as Windows XP self-with ICF, Norton Network Security SWAT 2003/2004) to automatically open the opening port.

BitComet supports UPnP automatic port mapping, which automates the operation of Gateway port mapping configuration on this computer. (This feature is turned on by default) the software can automatically open the external port at the gateway without any configuration, and the speed will be improved to a certain extent.

 2. Open the DMZ function

Encryption will affect BT download

Unlike traditional firewalls, the primary purpose of WEP and WPA encryption in wireless networks is to prevent unauthorized access to wireless LANs. and to BT download these applications will not cause inconvenience to users.

After testing each brand's wireless router, we find that the encrypted wireless network does not have a noticeable drop in speed and does not affect the application of various software. Here we strongly recommend that users turn on encryption when using a wireless router to ensure the security and stability of the network.

In addition to using UPnP to solve the problem of extranet and intranet, we also need to use the DMZ (Demilitarizedzone) to solve the problem that the external network cannot access the Internal network server after installing the firewall.

In order to ensure that the Peer-to-peer tools such as BT are not limited and to maximize smooth downloading, we need to open the DMZ function to set up a buffer between the unsecured system and the security system, which is located within the Small network area between the internal network and the external network.

In addition, in addition to these basic settings, some users of the use of wireless networks may still have some misunderstandings.

108M is faster than 54M without lines from download speed

The use of 11M, 54M, 108M Wireless routers for general broadband home users will not have any impact on the Internet, even the eliminated 11M routers are enough to meet our current 512K, 1M and 2M broadband requirements. Compared with the current network equipment, operators provide the bandwidth is the bottleneck, and different levels of wireless routers in the wireless LAN to give users different transmission speed and the range of signal coverage.

So for the average home users, the current mainstream 54M wireless router can fully meet our demand for BT download.

 3. Turn off the SSID

The SSID (Servicesetidentifier) is typically the local area network name that is broadcast by the AP or wireless router, and is designed to allow computers that have a value set to the same SSID as the name to communicate with each other.

For BT downloads, we recommend that you turn off the SSID to get better use of your results. Because, when the SSID is turned off, it can save the bandwidth occupancy rate and eliminate many network redundancy information, and improve the download speed of BT. On the other hand, turning off the SSID can also play a role in network protection. After you turn off the SSID broadcast, other users will not be able to search for the SSID of your wireless device unless he can manually fill out your correct SSID to connect.

  4. Enable encryption, control the number of users

Compared to traditional lines, wireless routers are more vulnerable to intrusion by others, especially if there is no wireless route with any encryption, and your neighbors will effortlessly use your network for downloading and other operations, which can affect the quality of your network. In addition to turning off the SSID, we can also protect the network by means of wireless encryption such as WEP and WPA. Here we suggest that, in the event that other settings are normal, you may want to see if someone has sneaked into your network after troubleshooting your ISP and software problems.
