To delete inactive client discovery data:

Set the 90-day deletion of inactive clients every Friday, this setting is only for computers that already have client agents installed, then how to determine the inactivity, we have explained below.

How to tell if the computer that has installed the client is inactive, the client Status detection Tool sets the status information if the SCCM server update is not contacted for 7 days, it is defined as an inactive client. Then 7 days are defined as inactive, but also set 90 days after the deletion, because the long-term does not boot, such as long-term travel users of the client, will be mistakenly deleted.

In the report we can clearly see the information of the inactive computer, this list of clients if more than 90 days, will be deleted, leaving only a record of discovery. If your system is running for a while, you'll have to change it to 30 days, and soon you'll find that a lot of clients have been removed because many of the computers that have installed the agent but have not been active for more than 30 days will become without the agent installed.

To delete aged discovery data:

This is for all discovery records, set up ad system discovery, will automatically synchronize all the computers in the ad, and DNS resolution is normal, will generate a record information in SCCM.

In the enterprise, if such a situation, the non-normal fallback domain, resulting in the ad has a computer account, and the computer is no longer exist, if the computer DNS resolution is not normal, then can not be found, no record generated, this will appear in AD and SCCM compared to the number of clients. This time you should remind the ad administrator to clean up the computer account. Explains how important it is to clean up the inactive computer accounts in the ad in a timely manner.

For Discovery Records, we can see in: Recently discovered computer reports, the computer in this report is all found, but not installed client, in the last time, to the current interval, simply how long has not been discovered, you can see the last item: the number of days since the discovery, There is no more than 30 days, because we are set to be automatically deleted for more than 30 days.

For example, the "XX" computer has not been discovered for 24 days, then after more than 30 days, this record will be deleted. If you look at this report every day, you'll find that the number of days is increasing.

For the computer account we deleted, if the record has been generated, no more than 30 days, then 30 days before the time, it will be deleted. Depending on how often you set the schedule, the expiration time you see here will be delayed for a few days, so don't doubt your strategy.

To delete stale client discovery data

What is the situation that will expire? The previous record is set to expire only if the client is already installed and a new record is created. Set to 7 days, which means that expired records will be deleted after 7 days of retention. And, of course, add the number of days you want to perform the frequency.
