How to make the document library support multiple types of documents

Yesterday, a netizen asked: In the document center, after clicking the new button, there is only one option to create a Word document. Can you directly create an Excel and PPT document other than a Word document. Add a new Excel document as an example:

1. Create a content type

On top-level websites, click the "modify all website Settings" menu.

On the "website Settings" page, click "website content type"

Click "CREATE"

Enter the new website content type name: Excel document. In "parent content type", select "document content type" and "document ".
At the same time, for ease of use, create a new "Office document" User Group to place this content type.

Click "OK" and return to the new Excel document page. You can modify the settings as needed.
Here we want to change its template and click "Advanced Settings" in "Settings"

Select "upload new document template", and click "Browse" to select the template location. Here, a blank Excel file stored in disk D is uploaded as a template.

Return to the website content type library page, and you can see the new "Excel document ".

2. Add different website content types to the document library

On the "Administrative Department" subwebsite, create a document library named "Office document library" and select "Word Document" as the document template"

After the document library is created, only Word documents can be created under the new menu by default.

Click "Settings" in the document library and select "document library Settings ".

Click "Advanced Settings"

In "whether to allow content type management", select "yes"

Return to the settings page after confirmation. In the content type column, click "add from existing website content type"

In "select website content type from the following list", select "Office document" and add "Excel document"

After that, you can see that an "Excel document" is added to the content type ".

Return to the document library and click the "new" menu. You can see that you can create both Word and Excel documents.

You can add other types of documents to the new menu according to the same operation.
