Whether it's on the Internet or on a local area network, we all need to start with a "native connection" and configure the network parameters appropriately. However, in the actual online process, we sometimes find that "local connection" may occur a variety of inexplicable failures, these failures often lead to our network parameters can not be targeted to set, thus affecting the efficiency of our Internet. In order to effectively improve the efficiency of the Internet, we must master some of the "local connection" related to the problem of troubleshooting; This is not, this article listed the "Local connection" relatively easy to occur several fault phenomenon, and the phenomenon of each failure to put forward a different approach, I believe we can bring harvest!

Resolve local Area Connection restricted failures

Some ADSL users in the Windows XP SP2 operating system, broadband dial-up Internet access is often used in the Windows system built-in PPPoE dialing method, but in this way when the Internet, these users may find the "Local connection" icon in the Network Connection List window display status, are often inexplicably adjusted to "restricted or connectionless", but in this state the Internet operation is normal. So this strange state shows how the fault occurred, how can we eliminate such a fault phenomenon?

If the display status of local connection becomes "restricted or connectionless" for no reason, this is usually not caused by a fixed IP address assigned to the NIC. Under normal circumstances, when we found that the "local connection" display is not normal, you can often try to set a static IP address for the network connection, this method often for us to solve a lot of inexplicable network failures. Once we find that the local network connection does not use a fixed IP address, you can click the start/Set/Network Connections command, and then, in the Network Connections list interface that appears, right-click the Local Area Connection icon and execute the Properties command from the right-click menu. Open the Properties Settings window for the local area connection, and in the General tab of the window, select the Internet Protocol item and click the Properties button (Figure 1);

After that, select the use the following IP Address option and set the IP address of the local computer to "192.168.0.2" and then set the IP address of the local gateway to "192.168.0.1" (Default state, Most ADSL equipment factory IP address is 192.168.0.1), and finally click the "OK" button, and restart the computer system, I believe that "local connection" state limited failure can be solved. Editor's note: Some ADSL equipment's factory IP address is 192.168.1.1

Resolve "Local Area Connection" redundant failure

Generally, a network card is configured for each installation of the computer, then in the Network Connection List window should have a corresponding "local connection" icon appears, if the computer has more than one network card installed, then we should be able to see multiple "local connection" icon appears, and each "local connection" Should be followed by numbers like "2" and "3" to correspond to the number of network adapters. In fact, sometimes we have only one network card installed in the computer, but the Network Connection List window is still likely to appear two "local connection" icon, then why this phenomenon, how can we solve the fault?

If there is only one network card in the computer, but the two "local connections" icon appears in the List window of the network connection, it indicates that the current NIC driver is installed at least two times on the local computer, which often occurs after we change the slot position of the NIC. Generally speaking, when the network response is not as sensitive as normal, we often like to open the computer chassis, to try to install the network card from the original slot to the other slot, in order to improve the network card and slot reliability; When you adjust the installation location of the network adapter, We did not uninstall the original NIC driver before changing the location of the NIC, but the Windows system still prompts us to reinstall the NIC driver at the new location after the change in the network card location, especially for those network cards with Plug and Play enabled Windows often does not prompt us to automatically reinstall the driver for the NIC, so that the driver for the same network card device may be repeated two times by the system.

The original driver of the NIC was not unloaded in time, therefore, the driver of the NIC after the replacement location is still in the Windows system, and the driver of the NIC is installed once after the replacement location, considering that a local connection has already appeared on the local computer, so the "local Area Connection" appears after Icons to avoid duplicate names tend to automatically add numbers such as "2", "3" after the name.

Obviously, this kind of NIC is repeated installs the phenomenon often can bring us the trouble, for example, if we have already set the IP address for the network card device, when the network card installs the position change after again tries to set the same IP address for this network card, Windows system will automatically pop-up prompts, Tell us that the current IP address conflicts with other network card addresses, and requires that we have to reset the other IP address to the NIC, so we can not continue to use the previous IP address. But when we have only one IP address available at hand, how can we eliminate the IP address conflict hint? In fact, it is very simple, we can follow the following steps to remove the previously installed virtual network card device:

Click the start/Run command to open the System Run dialog box, enter the string command "cmd", and then click OK to switch the system running state to MS-DOS command line mode;

On the DOS command line, the input string command "set Devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1" (as shown in Figure 2), and the Windows system automatically displays all virtual devices that are hidden in the computer when the return key is clicked;

Then at the DOS prompt, continue to enter the string command "Start Devmgmt.msc", click the Enter key, go directly to the system's device list interface, and then click the View/Show hidden devices menu item in the menu bar of the interface. We can find the virtual NIC device in the list interface "figure";

Now double-click the virtual device icon, enter the device's property settings interface, click the Driver tab in the interface, and then click the "Uninstall" button on the corresponding tab page to remove the previously installed virtual NIC device from the computer system.

Of course, if we are familiar with the system registry, you can also open the system's Registry editing window, then click the Edit/Find command in the menu bar of the window, and then enter the "local connection" keyword in the lookup dialog that appears, to search for all the local area connection values; Save the required "local connection" key values, remove all other items, and finally close the Registry editing window and restart the computer system, which will also smooth out the original NIC device completely.

When the virtual network card device is uninstalled, when we open the Network Connection List window again, we will find that there is only one local connection icon left in the local system, then we can reassign the original IP address to the NIC device after the replacement location. Edit reminder: Some software or hardware drivers will also virtual their own network card, so it is not necessarily the repeated installation of the network card caused.

Troubleshoot "Local Area Connection" loss

Sometimes we want to reconfigure the network parameters, but after entering the Network Connection List window, unexpectedly found the "local connection" icon disappeared! "Local Area Connection" icon is not found, how do we set the network parameters?! How is the "local connection" lost, and how can we make it "recovered"?

In fact, there are many factors that cause "local Area Connection" to be lost, for example, the NIC is not installed successfully, the system service related to "local connection" has been accidentally stopped, the network parameter is not set correctly, or the system has been improperly set up. Different factors cause "Local Area Connection" to be lost and need to be addressed in a different way:

First open the system's Device Manager interface, check if there is a network card device, if not found, then prove that the NIC has not been installed, it must be properly installed network card equipment; If the network card can be displayed in Device Manager, you can right-click the network card device, And then execute the Properties command from the right-click menu that appears, and in the window that appears, we can see the current working state of the NIC device (as shown in Figure 3).

If you find that the device is not available, you may wish to replace the installation of the network card, and then reinstall the driver of the network card, to see if the failure to eliminate the phenomenon; If the reinstall Network card can not make the network card working state back to normal, it is the network card itself has been damaged, The new NIC device must be replaced at this time.

Second, go to the system's Service list interface, check the system service startup status related to the "Local Area Connection", for example, see if the "Network Connections" service is already enabled, and if you find that the service is deactivated, check with the network The Connections service-related remote procedure call service "remote Procedure calls" is working properly because the "Network Connections" service may be deactivated once the service is accidentally disabled. Of course, if the "Plug and play" service is not normal, it can also affect the "local connection" icon to the normal display, so we must also ensure that the service can work properly.

We can then open the system's Run dialog box, execute the "Dcomcnfg.exe" string command, enter the system's Distributed COM configuration interface, click the "Default Properties" tab, and see if "Enable Distributed COM on this computer" is selected in the corresponding tab page. If the item is not selected at this time, the "local connection" loss is mostly caused by this factor, at which point we only have to reset "enable Distributed COM on this computer" check, while the impersonation level is adjusted to "identity", and finally click "OK", so "local Area Connection" The icon might appear after the system restarts.

If the previous steps do not allow the "Local Area Connection" icon to return, then we need to check whether the "Network Neighborhood" function is hidden, if so, we must open the system run box, where the "poledit" string command, open the System Policy Editor interface; Click the file/open Registry item in the menu bar of the interface. Then double-click the local user icon in the following interface, click the Shell interface/limit item one by one, and uncheck the hidden Network Places under the limit item, and then save the settings above. and restart the computer system, you can restore the Network Neighborhood display function, so that most of the "local connection" to solve the problem of loss.
