How to select an appropriate monitoring switch for tplink security monitoring?

A monitoring switch is a transmission device connecting the network camera (IPC) and the hard drive video recorder (NVR). The switch aggregates and transmits monitoring data streams to NVR, which is an important role in monitoring networks. Video streams in the security monitoring network occupy a large amount of bandwidth, a large number of access routes, and high requirements for real-time and stability. When selecting a monitoring switch, consider the following factors:

1Port quantity and speed

The number and rate of vswitches are the most important indicators for monitoring vswitches. This ensures that video traffic is not blocked and transmitted in real time. You need to select a vSwitch with an appropriate interface rate and number of interfaces. The following are recommendations based on the number and type of surveillance cameras:

Note the following when selecting a vSwitch:

A. In addition to the monitoring network, you also need to consider the bandwidth usage of the data terminal and the subsequent expansion of the network. We recommend that you select A vSwitch with A high interface speed.

B. To ensure the security and stability of the monitoring network, we recommend that you use a switch that supports VLAN to isolate the data network and monitoring network.
If you select a Mbit/s hybrid switch, the Gigabit port of the switch is connected to the front-end Gigabit network or the NVR gigabit interface.
Generally, the video stream consists of the main code stream and sub-code stream. When selecting the switch interface speed, the most important thing is to consider whether the uplink port can carry the total code stream of all cameras. For example, for a 20-way 2 million-pixel camera, the main code stream is 20*4 M = 80 M, the sub-code stream is 20*0.5 M = 10 M, and the total bandwidth is 90 M. Considering traffic spikes and the bandwidth of other data terminals, we recommend that you select a Gigabit uplink switch.

In traditional network monitoring projects, centralized power supply is generally used to power monitoring cameras. In addition to high costs and complex construction, it also imposes restrictions on wiring, power supply risks, and power supply distance. PoE power supply is an inevitable trend in security power supply. Only one common network cable can be connected between the PoE switch and the network camera to transmit data and power at the same time. As follows:
