How to Set up a wireless router (Mercury diagram) When an internet Router gets a wireless router? The default settings at the factory can be used sometimes. However, wireless networks without any encryption measures have security risks, so we do not recommend that you use them. Next I will take the MWR300T + 11N wireless router of mercury as an example to explain how to set up a wireless router. To get a wireless router, let's take a look at its exterior structure. On the front panel, we can see PWR lights, SYS lights, WLAN lights, 1-4 LAN lights, WAN lights, and a WPS lamp arranged from left to right.
The function of each indicator on the front panel is as follows: PWR: power indicator. If the power supply is off, the power supply is not connected. If the power supply is on, the power is powered on. SYS: system status indicator. If the device is off, the device is initializing. If the device is blinking, the device is working normally. WLAN: Wireless status indicator. If the feature is disabled, the wireless feature is not enabled. If the feature is blinking, the feature is enabled. 1-4: Lan status indicator. The device is not connected to the port. The device is blinking and the port is transmitting data. The device is always on and the port is connected to the device. WAN: WAN status indicator. The device is not connected to the port. The device is blinking and data is being transmitted. the device is always on and connected to the port. WPS: one-click Security Setting indicator. The connection is green and secure. The connection is green. The connection is successful. The connection is red and fails. Let's take a look at the router's back panel, which has a WAN port and four LAN ports respectively. The WAN port is used to connect to the Internet, while the LAN port is used to connect to the computer's Nic. Connect these ports with a network cable and connect them to the power supply. Then you can configure the wireless router. 2. After the panel is connected, enter the IP address "192.168.1.1" in the IE Address Bar and press enter to bring up the login window. Enter the username "admin" and password "admin" to configure the interface. The user password and IP address are usually marked on the bottom label of the router. 3. tips on the logon page: The Wireless Broadband Router can be connected through a wired or wireless connection. However, if this is the first configuration, we recommend that you use a wired connection. For new users, the wireless router provides a convenient Setup Wizard, which can be completed in just a few steps. Next, let's take a look at how to use the Setup Wizard for configuration. 4. In the Quick Setting wizard, click the setting wizard on the left and click Next. As you can see, the vro supports three common Internet access methods. We should select according to the actual situation when using the vro. For Ethernet bandwidth and dynamic IP, select the corresponding option and click Next. 5. The quick setup wizard sets the wireless network. You can enable or disable the wireless network. If the wireless status is disabled, the wireless network is unavailable. 6. In the Quick Setting wizard, you can also modify the SSID and use your own name as the name of the wireless network. In addition, you can select a channel. If there are other wireless networks with the same channel, our network will be subject to a certain degree of interference, therefore, it is best to select a channel that is different from other networks. The frequency band bandwidth can be set to automatic, 20 M or 40 M. It is also best to distinguish it from the surrounding network to avoid interference. 7. After the Quick Setting wizard is complete, click Next to complete the configuration of basic network parameters. After restarting, you can access the network. 8. If the Wizard is an Ethernet static IP address, select the corresponding option and click Next. 9. In the quick setup wizard, enter a series of basic network parameters, such as IP addresses, subnet masks, and gateways provided by the network service provider, and click Next. 10 The Quick Setting wizard is followed by wireless settings. The method is the same as above. After the settings are complete, you can access the network. If the dialing method is selected for ADSL, select the corresponding option and click Next. In the quick setup wizard, enter the Internet account and password provided by the network service provider, and click Next. 12 The quick setup wizard is followed by wireless settings. The method is the same as above. After the settings are complete, you can access the network. If you are familiar with network settings, we recommend that you manually configure the vro. In this way, we can separately configure the LAN port and WAN port, and configure the wireless network and encrypt the wireless network. Click network parameters-LAN port settings on the left side to configure the IP Parameters of the LAN port. We can set a parameter different from the default one. Configure the WAN port settings on the interface. You can select Dynamic IP, static IP, and PPPoE (that is, the ADSL dial-up Internet type) in the connection type based on the actual situation ). The Dynamic IP address does not need to be configured too much manually. It can be used by default. 14. On the static IP configuration page, you only need to set the basic network parameters provided by the network service provider. This is also very simple. The configuration page has many PPPoE configuration options. After setting the Internet account and password, you can also select the connection mode. There are on-demand connections, automatic connections, timed connections, manual connections, etc. This should be set according to the user's own situation. If it is monthly subscription, you can choose Automatic Connection, otherwise, you should select on-demand connection or manual connection. 16. Configure the wireless network parameters. Wireless Network configuration is the most important part of wireless Internet access. The SSID is used to distinguish the wireless signal broadcast ID of different networks. We can set our own name. A wireless router usually has multiple channels. If the signal is unstable, you can try to change a different channel or select a different bandwidth band. On the configuration page 18, You must select "enable wireless function" to use wireless networks. Otherwise, wireless networks cannot be used. If you do not want to broadcast the SSID for security reasons, you must manually set the SSID to enter the corresponding network. In wireless security settings, the configuration interface may encrypt the wireless network. Encryption mode has WEP, WPA/WPA2, WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, it should be noted that 11N mode does not support WEP encryption, if you choose WEP encryption mode, the router automatically jumps to work in 11g mode. In the general environment using WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK can be, that is, safe and reliable, phrase type password and easy to remember.
The basic network parameters have been set throughout the configuration page. We will introduce some other advanced options in future articles.
