How do I set up the Cisco 507 Web Cache Engine?
This actually depends on the cache software you use on this device. By the way, this type of device is no longer sold, so if it fails, it will not be supported by Cisco. This is just a reminder.
The following are the steps you need to set up any software. You should have the following information:
Host Name
Domain Name
Administrator Password
Interface identifier
Directory IP Address
IP Address Mask
Gateway IP Address
Domain Name System (DNS) Name
Server IP Address
Step 1: You must perform initial settings, such as setting the host name, domain name, and administrator password. This can be done through the enable mode (if you have set it before), or through the Software Dialog Box settings. A dialog box is displayed after the software is started for the first time or after it is reset by the manufacturer.
Step 2: Enable WCCP ). The software in your cache engine may support the first version of WCCP, or the second version of WCCP. I will provide you with some steps for the first version. If you need a second version, please let me know:
In the overall (global) Setting Mode, You need to enable the "enable ip wccp" function. Run the following command:
Router (config) # ip wccp enable
Step 3: In interface setting mode, you need to enable the "IP Web Cache redirection" function on all interfaces. These interfaces are interfaces to the Internet/Intranet or to other regions. Run the following command:
Router (config-if) # ip web-cache redirect
All that is required. You can use the "show ip wccp" or "show stat" command to verify your settings.(
