1. You do not need to upgrade the software when the extender is in normal use.
2. New software is usually optimized for the extended, so it is not recommended to recover from new software to old software unless otherwise specified.
This article takes TL-WA832RE as an example to explain the specific upgrade method.
Log on to the Extenders management page and click
Running status, Record the current software version and hardware version of the extender, as shown in the following figure:
Among them, WA832RE represents the product model, V1 represents the hardware version, and 150413 represents the current software version.
After the upgrade, the extended will automatically restore the factory settings, and the previous configurations will be lost. Before upgrading

Backup configuration fileButton. After the upgrade, you can import the previous configuration.
Note:If no configuration is configured, no export is required.
Download the software of the extended device. Download the corresponding software based on the model and hardware version of the extended device interface.
Click the software to download, in this example download TL-WA832RE V1.0 _ 150730 standard edition. Click the Download Now icon to save the software to the desktop for easy search. Right-click the downloaded software and decompress it to the desktop, as shown in the following figure:
Note:: If you do not have the decompression option after right-clicking the package, it means that the unzipping software is not installed on your computer. Install the unzipping software first.
After decompression, a new folder is created, as shown in the following figure. You need to browse the files in this folder in the subsequent steps. Therefore, remember the folder storage location after decompression. In this example, the folder is placed on the desktop.
The expansion device does not have a LAN port (wired interface). You need to use a computer to wirelessly connect to the expansion device signal for upgrade.
Connect the computer to the wireless signal of the extended device (the main router can be closed to ensure the connection to the extended device signal), and log on to the management interface through the management address tplogin.cn.
Log on to the Extenders management page and click

Browse, As shown in the following figure.
Browse the unzipped folder on the desktop, double-click the folder, and click wa832rev1. bin. The file name is automatically displayed as wa832rev1. bin. Click
Open. As shown in the following figure:
Then, the system automatically returns to the software upgrade page,
FileShows the complete path of the selected binfile. No modification required. Click
UpgradeButton, as shown in the following figure:

During the upgrade, the extended server cannot be powered off; otherwise, the extended server will be damaged. After the upgrade is successful, the extended instance will automatically restart. The entire process lasts for about 2-3 minutes. Please wait.
After the restart is complete, the extended device restores the factory settings, and the computer wirelessly connects the wireless signal of the extended device:
TP-LINK_RE_XXXX(X indicates the last four digits of the MAC address ).
Enter tplogin.cn in the browser, set the administrator password, and log on to the vro interface,
Running statusYou can see that the current software version is 150730, indicating that the upgrade has been successful.
