Auto Filter
AutoFilter is typically used for simple conditional filtering, which temporarily hides data that does not meet the criteria and displays only the data that meets the criteria. We explain this by using the example below (Figure 1). Figure 1 is the employee payroll for a unit, and opens the AutoFilter command on the Filter submenu in the Data menu. For example, in the Base Salary field, click the Down list button on the right, to filter out the first 10 (which can be adjusted) for a specified amount or to filter out the highest (low) base salary. Recording. We can also filter according to the conditions of the basic salary in a range of conditions of the record, the condition "and" to indicate that two conditions to be set up, conditions "or" to represent two conditions as long as one of them can be satisfied.
A record with a base salary greater than or equal to 300 and less than 350 can be filtered based on a given condition. In addition, you can filter on multiple fields at the same time by using AutoFilter, at which point the conditions restricted by each field can only be a relationship to and. If the "base salary" and "Shing" are filtered out, the records are more than 380.
Advanced filtering
Advanced filters are typically used for filter operations with more complex conditions, and their filtered results can be displayed in the original data table, and records that do not meet the criteria are hidden. You can also display filter results in a new location, and records that do not match the criteria remain in the datasheet without being hidden, making it easier to compare data.
For example, we would like to filter out "base pay" or "Shing" more than 380 and "real" wages more than 700 of the qualifying records, with "AutoFilter" is powerless, and "Advanced filter" can easily achieve this. As shown in Figure 3, copy the field names for the three fields of base salary, Shing, and real hair to the right side of the data table (other blank spaces in the table are also available). Enter a condition in the position shown in the diagram where the condition is placed on the same line that represents the relationship to and, not the same as the "or" relationship. Figure 4 is the result of filtering at the new position (B20 starting position) for the above operation.
Summarize
"AutoFilter" is generally used for simple filtering operations, the conditions of the record displayed in the original data table, the operation is relatively simple, beginners of the "automatic screening" is also more familiar. If you want to filter for multiple conditions that are "or", or if you need to display the results of a filter in a new location, you can only implement it with advanced filtering. In general, the actions that AutoFilter can complete can be accomplished with advanced filtering, but others are not appropriate for advanced filtering, which makes the problem even more complicated, such as filtering the first few records of the largest or smallest.
