How to use row and column numbers to calculate in Excel

Q: I remember Excel can use row number column labels to calculate, but how can not be. Could you tell me more about this function?

A: First, select Options under the Tools menu, open the Recalculate tab, find workbook options, and check the Accept Formula flags option. Here's a specific example: Enter headings 2005 and 2006 in the B1 and C1 cells of the worksheet, enter sales and cost in the A3 and A4 cells, and then enter numbers between the cell B2 and the C4. To calculate and display the revenue results in B5 and B6 cells, you simply enter "= Sales-cost" in the cell. This is because the column labels can be omitted from the same column.

Create formulas easily

To get the income difference between 2006 and 2005, simply enter the formula in the cell "=2006 revenue-2005 revenue."
