In Word2003, you can add captions automatically when you insert a table, chart, formula, or other item, or you can add captions to an existing table, chart, formula, or other item. The following describes how to automatically add captions when inserting an item:
1, click the caption item on the Insert menu to open the Caption dialog box, click the Insert Caption Automatically button in the dialog box, and open the Insert Caption dialog box;
2. In the Add caption on Insert list, select the item you want to insert captions in Word. If you want to add captions automatically when you insert a table, select the Microsoft Word check box.
3, in the "label" box with the Drop-down list, select the appropriate label. If you don't have the label you want in the label list, click New label? , open the New Label dialog box, enter the label you want to use in the label text box, such as "schedule," and then click the OK button;
4, in the "Location" box with the Drop-down list to select the location of the caption;
5, Word is generally in Arabic numerals "1,2,3, ..." to number the caption, if you want to use a different numbering method, click the Number button to open the Caption Number dialog box, select a numbering method in the Drop-down list in the Format box, and click OK.
6, click "OK" button.
This way, each time you insert a table in your document, Word2003 adds a caption to it as you just chose.
