Back up all data on the local disk to tape
By default, you do not need to specify the file system device number. The value is "/dev/RMT/0 m ". However, if this device does not contain tape media or you need to apply other devices, you must add the parameter "-d" and specify the device number.

Specify a tape drive and change it back to its initial status
When an error occurs during the backup operation or the execution is interrupted due to a network disconnection, the conventional method is to re-execute the backup. Previously, the tape needs to be switched back to the initial state. When the file system device number is not specified in the backup operation, all files are "/dev/RMT/0 m ".

Query the device number of a tape drive
If you do not know enough about the device information, you can use ioscan to query and obtain the device Number of the file system of the tape drive. At the same time, you need to have an impressive understanding of the physical connection of the device, because in some cases, the ioscan alone cannot be thoroughly analyzed.
By default, the hp9000 host tape devices are "/dev/RMT/0 m ".
