If the printer has not been started, press thepower button () to start it.
Lift the paper tray.

Drop the tray and pull out the tray extension board.

Slide the paper width guide to the most lateral position.

Put a stack of unused U.S letter or A4 plain white paper into the carton, short side facing front, print face upward.

Slide the paper width guide to the right to the edge of the paper and not bend the paper.

Workaround two: Open the Tray
Make sure the exit tray is open. You may need to press the power button () to clear the error.

Workaround three: Close the cartridge hatch
Make sure the cartridge hatch is securely fastened.

View Ink Volume
To open the HP product software:
Windows XP: Click "Start"→ "All Programs" → "HP" → your HP products folder, then click on the Product icon (). Windows Vista or Windows 7: Click on the Windowsicon () → "All Programs" → "HP" → your HP products folder, and then click on the Product icon(). Note: Alternatively, you can open the HP product software from your computer desktop: Double click on the icon for your HP product().
The product software will open.
Double-click "Estimate ink Volume". The estimated ink volume for the printer will be graphically displayed.

Step Two: Replace the ink cartridge that is not enough
Open the cartridge hatch and wait for the pen to move to the middle of the printer.

Gently press down on the cartridge you want to replace, release it, and then pull the cartridge out of the slot.

Remove the new cartridge from the package and tear off the protective tape through the pink strip.

Slide the new cartridge into the slot until it snaps into place.

Insert the tri-colorcartridge () into the left slot toInsert the black cartridge () into the right slot
If necessary, repeat the above action on the other cartridges.
Close the cartridge hatch.
