Many years ago, I always wanted to learn Illustrator. Like many people, I tried a lot of methods, but I had no idea how to learn it. Every time I started Illustrator, all the tools were played one by one, there is always a feeling of ignorance. In this way, Illustrator is opened and closed, then opened and then closed. Until now, I cannot recall what knowledge and methods I learned during that period.
One day, I went online to read an Illustrator tutorial, a complicated and exquisite watch. This tutorial attracted me all at once. It took me three hours to finish the tutorial, I feel a sense of pride. I cannot believe that I can draw such a complicated watch. From then on, I will not be afraid of the complicated shapes in Illustrator, and gradually grasp the software as easily as possible.
I am doing this tutorial to hope that more people can use a complicated case like me to overcome the fear of learning Illustrator software, this is why I wrote this tutorial.
This is the first tutorial in this series. It aims to help you understand the shape of various drawing tools and the use of the Path Finder.
Select the elliptical tool in the toolbox and draw two circles, as shown in the following figure.
★Tip: during the process of drawing an ellipse, you can press Shift to draw a positive circle. Press Alt + Shift to draw a positive circle from the center. Press Alt, an ellipse can be drawn from the center.
Use the selection tool to select the two circles, click the exclude overlapping shape areas button in the Pathfinder palette, and then click the expand button to empty the interior of the two circles.
★Tip: using the path finder to tune the board is actually very simple. If you try one button, you can know what the button is for. If you do something wrong, use Ctrl + Z to return to the previous operation. In Illustrator, as long as the computer memory permits, it can be restored without limit.
Use the utility tool to cut two holes in the empty shape.
Use the selection tool to select the cut center and press "DEL" to delete it.
Use the pen tool to draw the shape shown in the figure.
Use the stroke palette to adjust the path stroke. Note that the stroke endpoint is a circular endpoint.
Run the "object> extension" command. The following dialog box is displayed.
Click "OK" to fill the stroke
Use the direct selection tool to modify the path's external contour, as shown in the following figure.
Use the selection tool to select the blue spiral, select the image tool in the toolbox, click at the blue center in the figure below, confirm the image center, drag the spiral with the mouse, hold down the Alt key, and then release the mouse
★Tip: In Illustrator, it is usually used as a shortcut to create a "copy" image.
Copy the image as shown in the following figure.
Select all shapes, press the Alt key, and click add to shape area on the path finder.
★Tip: in the Pathfinder palette, press and hold the Alt key and click the button in "shape mode". You do not need to press the "extension" button again.
Use the shape change tool to click the moon's nose and mouth multiple times, as shown in the following figure.
Use the direct selection tool to select a node and drag it to the center of the circle, as shown in the following figure.
Use the same method to draw the shape of the mouth.
This is the second part of this series. It serves to help you master the path offset command and mixed usage.
The book follows the previous article. The previous section describes how to make the shape of the moon. This section uses the shape of the previous section.
Before you begin to make some changes to this shape, we will make a copy of this shape first, leaving a copy first!
For the sake of convenience, the copied shape is called Y01.
Execute "object> path> offset path" for the copied shape. In the displayed dialog box, set the value to a negative number. You must adjust the value yourself during the creation process.
★Tip: It is easy to copy a shape in Illustrator. You only need to use the selection tool to select the shape to be copied, hold down the Alt key and drag it to another location, release the mouse, open the Alt key to complete the copy.
Click OK to get a shape that is smaller than the original one.
To change the color, you can also use a selection tool to offset its position a little (unexpected effect may be achieved). We also need to copy one shape for backup. For the convenience of subsequent descriptions, we copied the form to Y02.
Use the art knife tool to cut the ending point of the Moon
Use the selection tool to select the terminal and use the DEL key to delete it.
Select the two shapes shown in the preceding figure and run the "object> hybrid> create" command to obtain the results shown in the following figure.
Copy the copied Y02 image and place it in the position shown in the following figure.
Repeat the "offset path" command (adjust the value by yourself) to get a smaller shape and modify the color of the shape, as shown in the following figure.
Select the two shapes shown in the following figure.
Run the "object> hybrid> create" command to obtain the result shown in the following figure.
Run the "object> arrange> place on top" command for the copied Y02 image, and then put it back on the top of the moon image, as shown in the figure below (the position does not need to be fully aligned, leaving a small side, this will have a very delicate feeling ).
Use the pen tool to draw the eye shape as shown in the following figure. We also need to copy one of the shapes and keep them for backup. For the sake of convenience, we will copy the form to Y03.
Run the "offset path" command. The input value is positive and the image expands outward.
Run the "offset path" command again.
★Tip: in the "offset path" dialog box, select different options after "connect" to get different results.
Select all three shapes and run the "object> hybrid> create" command to obtain the result shown in the following figure.
Move Y03 back to the position shown in the following figure and change the color to black.
The shape of the eye and highlight is shown in the following figure.
Select the two images and run the "object> hybrid> create" command to obtain the results shown in the following figure.
Use the pen tool to draw the shape as shown in the following figure. The fill color is the same as the color of the moon.
Click in the middle of the shape using the grid tool to change the color of the grid points to Rose Red. The result is shown in the following figure.
On the opacity board, change the shape opacity to 45%.
The face of the Moon has been roughly completed
Copy Y01 to the bottom of the graph, as shown in the following figure.
Copy Y01 and place it at the top of the graph. Change fill to none and stroke to purple, as shown in the following figure.
Now, the moon's face has been created, but I will continue to explain the following steps, the purpose is to make the moon look softer.
Copy Y01 to the top of the graph and fill it with yellow.
Change the transparency palette as shown in the following figure.
