Import known longitude and latitude coordinates to ArcMap to generate SHP format file

I. preparations:

1. first, convert the obtained longitude and latitude coordinates (generally longitude and latitude) to the degree format. The conversion formula is = left (C3, 3) + mid (C3, find ("°", C3) + 3600)/60 + mid (C3, find ("'", C3) +)/(Note: each parameter depends on the actual situation)

2. regenerate an Excel table. The corresponding X and Y coordinates generate two columns respectively. The coordinate information is arranged in sequence under the first row column (such as X and Y.

3. Save the next Excel table as a. CSV file.

You can also create a. txt file.

Ii. import data and generate a SHP file:

Method 1:

1. Under ArcMAP, menu tools-add XY data ..., For example:

2. Click OK after selecting items to generate

3. A new layer is formed, and all vertices are added. However, the added vertices do not have objectid or FID. most of the SHP layer functions, such as vertex selection, editing, association, and attribute operations. Further operations are required

4. Right-click the generated layer and select data-expot data ..., Export to The. SHP file, and then add the exported file. Next, you can perform other operations.

 

Method 2:

1. Open toolbox and click data management tools --- layers and table views.

 

2. Double-click make XY event layer. The page is displayed.

3. Select the coordinate file, x, y field, and assign the space Reference System

4. Click OK to generate

5. The subsequent operations are the same as method 1.
