The solution is to restore applicationhost.config.

First check the C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\config directory of the applicationhost.config file, preferably back up a copy

Restore applicationhost.config using the AppCmd.exe Restore feature provided by IIS

Run the command prompt, type the CD%windir%\system32\inetsrv, and then press Enter
