I. Router price reasons
The main difference between different vrouters is that
(1) different functions
Although the basic functions are the same, some vro differences also have built-in other more practical functions, such as professional firewall functions, VPN, so the technical requirements are high, the price will naturally increase.
(2) Different performance
Vrouters with strong performance have powerful processors and large memory capacity, so the cost is relatively high.
(3) different applications
Vrouters with strong performance can be used for networks with more loads, while low-end vrouters cannot.
Ii. metrics for determining vro Grades
(1) the processor and memory determine the performance of the router to a large extent. Another method to distinguish between them is the load capacity, also known as the number of belt machines.
The number of hosts with the machine is not a standardized data volume. It must be measured based on actual usage. For example, everyone in the internet cafe is immersed in online chats and games, in addition, almost all data is differentiated from WAN ports through routers, so the load is very heavy. However, if it is a corporate network, most people are busy designing, writing reports, and making plans, at the same time, only a small number of people are using the network, and most of the data is flowing inside the enterprise network, so the router has a very low load, so you can load more clients at the same time. If the maximum load is 253, it makes no sense, because the maximum number of IP addresses that DHCP can allocate is 254, and the number of IP addresses that DHCP can use is 253, this kind of metric cannot be called. It is basically a hit person. We need to look at the actual load capacity of a router, rather than the theoretical load capacity.
(2) There are many uncertainties and spoofing factors in the load capacity. We can also see the throughput.
Throughput refers to the amount of data that the router can process per second. This parameter refers to the throughput of the LAN-to-WAN. The measurement result is that when NAT is enabled and the firewall is disabled, use the Smartbits and Chariot test methods respectively. When using the Smartbits method, compare the test data of 64 byte packets and determine whether to compete. The Chariot test is best performed under multiple connections. Generally, you can select 100 pairs for the connection to see the differences between the products.
