During the construction and completion of the Integrated Wiring project, it is often necessary to check the quality of the wiring project. The construction quality of twisted pair wires bears the brunt. based on years of experience in design and construction, summarize a set of practical detection programs and describe them to share with your peers.
Pre-test check is indispensable
Inspection includes appearance check and cable check. Visual inspection refers to the sampling inspection of plug and wiring connection points according to ISO11801 and other related standards. Inspection details include: Check the outer casing of the cable package line; on the workstation and distribution frame side, the cable must be twisted until the socket is connected; check the consistency between the socket and the wiring color code; confirm that the cables are not squashed in sockets, fixtures, and cable aisles; Confirm that the distance between data cables and power cables is observed.
Cable detection is more complex. The WireScope multi-function tester can be used for testing and installation. It comes with two cables for RJ45 sockets. If it is connected to the distribution frame of the 110 connection module, it is recommended that one end be connected to the RJ45 plug and the other end be connected to the 110P patch connection.
A standard test report collects all data for connection performance tests in the ISO11801 standard. It should be noted that two operators with communication tools or walkie talkie are required to complete such a test. The outlets to be tested should be listed in advance. The inspection procedure is as follows.
First use the cables for testing to connect the transmitter to the tester to calibrate the instrument, and this step is required prior to each test. One operator holds the tester at the distribution frame, and the tester connects the distribution board through a cable. The other operator holds the transmitter along the installation contact and connects it with another cable. Each socket is tested one by one. The entire installation must be tested to ensure that the installation is correct. The detection of trunk and telephone cables is also carried out at each point.
The multi-function tester is a cable Tester that can detect the bandwidth and accuracy of twisted pair cables. This multi-function tester automatically checks all combinations of twisted pair wires, not only determines your installation performance, but also what type of regional network you are using. It can store, print, or transmit data to a PC. The multi-function tester is easy to use and comes with a preset program with standard cables, regional networks, and horizontal features. The data allows the multi-function tester to determine the installation level and the supported network. The cable database includes all current twisted pair cables and coaxial cable specifications. You only need to add your own cable specification to the database. The multi-function tester includes all current network specifications. You can use the EDIT function to display these specifications on the screen. You can also define your own network type and put it into the database.
Multiple Test Methods
Depending on the report, the following test methods are available.
Automatic Test: the automatic test determines the cable level and the network tool that the cable can support. It performs a complete set of tests on all pair cables. The test frequency band is separated by kHz and MHz. Compare the crosstalk, attenuation, and signal-to-noise ratio with the pre-recorded level and network restrictions to get the "good" or "bad" result. Each test result can be stored, printed, or transmitted to a PC.
Quick check: This method allows you to quickly check the wiring integrity without having to perform a full test, it can check cable continuity within about 10 seconds, measure the length of the cable, and find the cable shunt. The cable continuity image shows whether the contact is incorrect, short-circuit, or broken. The distance to the break or short circuit can also be measured. The continuity of the STP cable shield layer can also be measured. The multi-function tester can add the length of the cable tested within a given date to charge for the installation length.
"Line chart": to quickly check the continuity of the cable or identify the cable, the line chart should be used, in this way, timely detection of the continuity of the cable. If a problem is found, it displays the bad points, short circuits, and breaks in the image and gives the distance.
Network Testing: network testing provides faster options than automatic testing. You only want to test the installation of networks in a specific region. After a network is selected from a series of regional networks, the multi-function tester CONTACTs through CONTACTs) to perform all measurement, frequency range and performance of the selected network, and then test the prediction restrictions of crosstalk, attenuation, and signal-to-noise ratio, draw the conclusion of "good" or "bad.
Measure crosstalk and attenuation: To compare crosstalk or attenuation within 5 levels, it is best to use the cross talk crosstalk) and FADING attenuation functions. This will give a detailed image of the measurement results with a Level 5 standard. The cross talk and FADING functions allow you to set the CONTACTs and frequency ranges for specific tests, and increase the frequency interval.
Cable Length: A comprehensive Time Domain Reflector TDR) determines the length of each pair of cables. You can select a cable from the database. The cable length can be calculated based on the standard transmission rate of the selected cable, if you do not know the transmission rate, you can use a cable with a known length to measure the length of the cable from different terminals: broken, moderate, or proper remote.
