As a test management tool, testlink has basically included all the management functions required for testing. As a lightweight free tool, testlink is suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises and teams. Next, we will introduce how to use testlink.

1. Create a test project

After logging on to the main interface, you will find that the interface is very simple, and the right side of the interface is blank. In fact, this is because you have not created a test project. 1. After a test project is created, many more options are available.

Click "test project management" under the "test project" tab in the upper left corner to create a test project. The test project basically corresponds to the development project. You can create a test project on testlink for each development project.

2. User Management

After creating a test project, we need to assign some personnel to the project. Testlink provides a powerful user and role management system.

First, let's take a look at the system roles. In testlink, six types of roles are predefined: Test designer, guest, Senior tester, tester, admin, and leader. different roles have different access permissions and functions.

All admin permissions for the administrator role. You can also customize roles as needed.

After learning about system roles, you can add different users and specify corresponding roles. (In the configuration file, it seems that there are LDAP-specific settings, but no relevant information is found. I hope that if there are experts who know how to integrate domain usersTestlinkThank you!)

3. Create a test plan)

After creating a test plan, you can create a test plan. In the upper-right corner of the interface, there is a "Test Plan" tab, click "Test Plan Management" to enter the test plan creation interface.

In the actual project, you can set the test plan according to the project plan, and include different types of tests in each round for unified management.

4. Create a test case)

After a test plan is created, corresponding personnel can create test cases. There is a "Test Specification" tab in the lower-left corner of the interface. Click "edit test cases" to enter the editing test case interface.

On the test case page, we can see a tree structure on the left, which is the structure tree of the test case. The intermediate node is called "test suite" and the leaf node is called "test case ". We can create different test suites based on the project requirements, and divide different test cases for ease of management.

If you want to create a test suite, click the root node on the tree and click the "new child test suite" button on the right interface to create a new test suite, that is, a classification node, click the classification node, and more buttons will appear on the right interface. Then, we will find that there is a "create test cases" button in it, click this button, you can create a test case ).

A test case includes: title, summary, steps, expected results, and keywords ). The keywords need to be predefined, and then select the keywords used in this case.

After the test case is created successfullyTest CasesAssigned to the previously created test plan, so that the test case is associated with the test plan.

5. perform the test

If the new version of the software is complete, you can test it. Find the "test execution" tab in the middle of the page, and click "execute tests ". Again, we enter the familiar interface. The tree of test cases on the left is different from the previous one. This time, after clicking the test case leaf node in the tree, select the execution result of the case on the right. After the tester executes the software according to the test process, if the result is consistent with the expected in the test case, select "passed". Otherwise, select "failed" or "blocked ".

the above description only gives a brief introduction to basic functions in testlink. I would like to give you a basic concept. In fact, testlink has far more functions than the test management function mentioned above, as well as requirement Management (binding test cases to requirements) various emerging report forms, management of platform/builds/releases, integration with other systems (such as Jira, Bugzilla, fogbugz, Mantis, TRAC, etc.), and many other powerful functions. When selecting a test management tool, you may try it. I also hope to have more conversations with friends who are also interested in testlink.
