Install ESXi 4.1.0 on a USB flash drive

Starting ESXi with a USB flash drive can make virtualization management more flexible and stable. After ESXi is started, the startup disk is rarely accessed unless the configuration is written, therefore, the USB flash drive will not crash the entire system during operation.
There are two ways to start ESXi through a USB flash drive. Here we will take the latest ESXi version 4.1.0 as an example to give a brief introduction.
Method 1:
During installation, select the USB flash disk for storage. This method is relatively simple. After downloading the ESXi image file, install it on a dial, and then select the USB flash disk for storage according to the process.

Method 2:
Directly write the image to the USB flash drive, which is more efficient. We recommend this method.
1. Download The ESXi 4.1.0 image and decompress it.

In the displayed directory, select imagedd.bz2 and decompress it. The decompressed file is imagedd.

2. Download the USB flash drive write tool and write imagedd to the USB flash drive.
