1. Lack of decoder, install W32codecs decoder (used to play WMV, RMVB and other common Windows platform under the multimedia files).
sudo apt-get install W32codecs
You can also download the latest decoding package by yourself to the MPlayer Web site, where http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html select "Binary Codec Packages" under the heading "Linux x86 ... ", such as Linux x86 20061022, download after the/usr/lib/codecs/or/usr/lib/win32 can be extracted.
For example
sudo mkdir/usr/lib/codecs/
Cd/tmp
Wget-c http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/essential-20071007.tar.bz2
Tar jxvf essential-20071007.tar.bz2
sudo mv essential*/*/usr/lib/codecs/
2. Click on the video to prompt "Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-VO) device". When you click OK, you can play audio, but no images.
Workaround:
Right-click MPlayer Main Program, select "Preferences", Pop-up Options window, select "Video" tab, "availble drivers" below select "X11 X11 (XIMAGE/SHM), click" OK "OK.
3. Error message: Could not open required DirectShow codec Drvc.dll
Workaround:
# Find/usr/lib-name drvc*
/usr/lib/codecs/drvc.so
# ldd/usr/lib/codecs/drvc.so
Libstdc++.so.5 => not found
This shows that libstdc++.so.5 needs to be installed
# Apt-get Install libstdc++5
4. When playing video for full screen display, the image size remains unchanged, unable to fill the entire screen.
WORKAROUND: Open the terminal and run the following command
Gedit ~/.mplayer/config
Write a row in the file that pops up
Zoom=yes
Save exit.
