Failure Phenomenon:
When you try to install an update by using the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site, you may receive the following error message: 0x80070422
Solution:
1. Click Start, click Run, type Notepad, and then click OK or press ENTER.
2. Copy the following text and paste the text into Notepad:
3. sc config wuauserv start= auto
4. sc config bits start= auto
5. sc config dcomlaunch start= auto
6. net stop wuauserv
7. Net start wuauserv
8. net stop bits
9. Net start bits
Ten. Net start Dcomlaunch
11. Click the file, click Save As, and then type Repair.bat.
12. In the Save Type box, click All Files.
13. In the Save Scope box, click the Desktop, and then click Save.
14. Click on the File menu to repel.
15. Double-click the Repair.bat file that you saved in step 5th. This operation will start the required service.
16. Try reinstalling these updates. If you can install these updates, delete the Repair.bat files. To delete the Repair.bat file, right-click Repair.bat, click Delete, and then click Yes.
Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008
To start the required services, in Windows Vista, or in Windows Server 2008, follow these steps:
1. Click Start

Close this picture and expand the picture If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
16. Try reinstalling these updates. If you can install these updates, delete the Repair.bat files. To delete the Repair.bat file, right-click Repair.bat, click Delete, and then click Yes.
