Install network connection management tools under Ubuntu WICD
Source: Internet

I'm going to change the network manager in Ubuntu and switch to the WICD the Friends recommend, here is a little note.
1, Understand Wicd
WICD is an open source network management tool with features such as:
(1) independent of GNOME (although it requires GTK), so it supports XFCE, Fluxbox, Openbox, enlightenment and other desktop environments;
(2) can connect the wireless and the wired network;
(3) A separate configuration file can be made for each network connection;
(4) A lot of encryption technology, WEP/WPA/WPA2 (even can add their own design methods)
(5) Status bar icon to show the strength of the network signal
(6) ...
2. Installation of WICD in Ubuntu 8.10
In 8.10, for example, when installing WICD, you first need to change the/etc/apt/sources.list file to add the source:
Deb Http://apt.wicd.net Intrepid Extras
Then, after updating, install "WICD" with a new search, or install it directly with the command line sudo apt-get install Wicd
Note: To avoid conflicts, you need to remove the system's own network manager.
3. Use
After installing WICD, in System-preferences-session, add a new system startup session and enter the command "Wicd-client" so that when you enter the desktop session, the WICD is started and displayed in the status bar, and you can give this command a "-n" parameter if you do not need to display the icon.
The diagram below is a diagram of the program running on my computer.
But there is a problem, my computer's wireless network card (BCM 43XX) can be identified, but not connected, I do not know what the reason, enough depressed (but this is not the reason for WICD, in the same way, can not be used).
