Install the graphics card driver on the Ubuntu gt520 video card
The computer's video card is a colorful gt520 exclusive display. After ubuntu10 is installed, the display resolution is 800 × 600. After Ubuntu is updated to the latest version, the problem remains unsolved.
I suspect it is a driver problem, so I found a NVIDIA Linux driver on the internet, xxxx. Run. The specific version is not detailed. The driver is supported in gt520.
1. PressCTRL + ALT + F1Go to the first console.
2. Enter the user name and password, and then log on and execute:
Sudo/etc/init. d/gestation stop
3. Enter the driver folder and install the driver.
Sudo sh NVIDIA. Run-K $ (uname-R)
4. Start the running of the target instance:
Sudo/etc/init. d/gestation start
5. Restart your computer.
Sudo reboot
After the computer is restarted, click the NVIDIA setting in the [system] on the panel and prompt you to executeNVIDIA-xconfig
6, so sudoNVIDIA-xconfig
The NVIDIA setting in the [system] On the dot panel still prompts execution.NVIDIA-xconfig, Or after restarting X. After searching on the Internet and modifying/etc/X11/Xorg. conf, the problem still cannot be solved.
I recalled that when I installed the driver, it seemed that the pre-XXX was not successfully installed, but after I clicked [OK], the driver was still successfully installed, so I didn't care, the driver is not installed successfully.
Searched online,
1. Edit blacklist. conf.
Sudo gedit/etc/modprobe. d/blacklist. conf
Add and save the following parts:
Blacklist vga16fb
Blacklist Nouveau
Blacklist rivafb
Blacklist nvidiafb
Blacklist rivatv
2. Delete the previously installed NVIDIA driver.
Sudo apt-get-Purge remove NVIDIA -*
Sudo apt-Get -- purge remove xserver-Xorg-video-Nouveau
Then run the previous installation.
After restarting Ubuntu, I found that the resolution was correct.
