Ubuntu 12.04 wired network cannot be connected
I have been using a Wi-Fi connection from John. I didn't expect the network to be plugged in today, but there was no response.
Ifconfig does not have eth0 either. If I think about it, it is estimated that it is a problem of the wired NIC driver. I will solve it after Google.
Thank you for referring to this post.
1. Download the driver installation package.
Compat-wireless-2012-07-03-pc.tar.bz2 is recommended. I tried a newer 2012-12 version at the beginning. The compilation time is long and there are still problems.
2. Unzip the installation package.
$ Tar xvf compat-wireless-2012-07-03-pc.tar.bz2
3. Enter and compile and install.
$ Compat-wireless-2012-07-03-pc.tar.bz2 CD
$ Make
$ Sudo make install
4. The following prompt appears after the installation is complete:
Now run:
Sudo make unload to unload all: Wireless, Bluetooth and Ethernet modules
Sudo make wlunload to unload wireless modules
Sudo make btunload to unload Bluetooth modules
Run sudo modprobe driver-name to load your desired driver.
If unsure reboot.
5. Restart or directly start the NIC
$ Sudo modprobe alx
6. View ifconfig, and finally eth0 is available.
