1. What is VMware?
VMware is a virtual machine software that virtualizes a new host on your existing operating system. On the one hand, this virtual host is built on your operating system. At the same time, it also has its own independent CPU, hard disk, memory and various hardware. Of course, these are all virtualized. the cpu Of the VM is implemented through the i386 protection mode, A virtual hard disk is actually a file on the local machine. Of course, the memory is drawn from the physical disk, and other network devices are also implemented in some way.
VMware offers us the opportunity to run two independent operating systems at the same time on one machine. One is the original operating system and the other is running on a virtual machine. The former is called the local machine, the latter is the virtual host.

Ii. What is vmtools?
As the name suggests, Vm tools are a set of VMware Tools. It is mainly used to optimize and adjust the display of VM instances. In addition, it can facilitate interaction between Vm instances and hosts, such as allowing shared folders, you can even drag and drop files from the local host to the VM, seamlessly switch the mouse, and adjust the display resolution.

Iii. Installation Steps
1. Install and enter the Ubuntu Operating System

2. Install vmtools:
There are many installation methods on the Internet, but below I chose a simple and clear installation method.
Generally, vmtools is integrated into VMware and can be directly installed;
1) built-in tools: Select VMware toolbar => Virtual Machine => install vmtools
2) Ubuntu automatically mounts the virtual optical drive of VMware Tools and displays it on the desktop.
3) Go to the Ubuntu menu: Application-attachment-Terminal
4) The following are the steps and commands for installing vmtool on the terminal:
1. sudo passwd Root
2. Su
3rd, copy vmwarw.ls-8.4.6-385536.tar.gz to the home/folder.
4. Tar zxf VMwareTools-8.4.6-385536.tar.gz
5. CD vmware-tools-distrib
6./vmware-install.pl
7. Press ENTER
8. After the installation is complete, enter the reboot command and restart.
