Install vmware7.14 on ubuntu11.10

Ubuntu11.10 kernel is upgraded to 3.0. After downloading the latest vmware workstation 7.1.4, it cannot be started. unable to build kernel modules. Google found that the SPIN_LOCK_UNLOCKED function in the new kernel was renamed.

Decompress:
# Bunzip2 vmware2.6.39patchv3.tar.bz2
Switch the directory to the installation directory of the vmware module:
# Cd usr/lib/vmware/modules/source/
Decompress the makeup file to this directory.
# Tar xvf/home/download/vmware2.6.39patchv3.tar
Decompress the package to obtain two files.
Patch-modules_2.6.39.sh
Vmware2.6.39fixedv3. patch
 
Vmnet.tar
# Cp vmnet.tar vmnet.bak.tar
Decompress vmnet.tar under this directory
# Tar xvf vmnet.tar
Run Patches
# Sh patch-modules_2.6.39.sh
 
After the execution is complete, the prompt is displayed.
All done, you can now run VMWare WorkStation.

Modules sources backup can be found in the '/usr/lib/vmware/modules/source-workstation7.1.4-2011-09-13-11: 42: 37-backup' directory

Now we can start vmware.
