Installation of VMware under Ubuntu16.04, solutions to possible problems and basic configuration

installing VMware

1. Download the VMware Workstation Pro 12.1.0 for Windows installation.

Add a new disk partition

1. Disk Management, select Disk (D) with larger remaining space (40960m≈39.9g, preferably larger than 20G)

2. New simple volume--Change letter (E, up2u) and name (UBUNTU,UP2U)

Create a virtual machine

1. Creating a custom (Advanced) virtual machine

2. Install OS-Linux, Ubuntu 64-bit later

3.ubuntu16.04 (virtual machine name); E:\Ubuntu16.04 (virtual machine installation location)

4. Number of processors (2, UP2U); Number of cores per processor (2, UP2U)

5. Memory (4G, UP2U)

6. The network address translation (NAT) is used by default, so the configuration can be installed and changed.

7. Maximum disk size: 20.0g,up2u; To store a virtual disk as a single file

Installing Ubuntu16.04

1. Edit Virtual machine settings, CD/DVD (SATA), use ISO image to find the ISO file path

2. Turn on this virtual machine

3. If you are prompted that the virtualization engine is not turned on or unavailable, boot into BIOS setup, change Intel virtual technology from disable to enable, press F10 to save and exit, restart the computer, and then turn on VMware to rerun the virtual machine.

4. Select the language and install Ubuntu

5.√ Install third-party software for graphics or unlimited hardware, as well as MP3 and other media

6.√ clear the entire disk and install Ubuntu

7. Follow the prompts to complete the restart after completion

8. Tip: The keyboard hook timeout value is set to the recommended values for VMware Workstation? OK, no longer prompt.

installing VMware Tools

1.Ubuntu file System pop-up image file [CD/DCD Drive]

2. Click Install VMware Tools to see the disc turned into VMware tools

3. Copy the compressed package vmwaretools-blablabla....tar.gz to \tmp

4.ctrl-alt-t Open terminal, enter admin mode: sudo su

5. Unzip, run

Note: The first line of the parameters is obtained by the CVT 1920 1080 command, and the second row of virual is the display name, which is obtained by the Xrandr command.

Find the System setting > Display, and under the resolution list you can see the 1920x1080 option, tick and apply

sudo VI /etc/profile

After entering edit mode, add the following command at the end:

" 1920x1080_60.00 " 173.00 1920x1080 2048 2248 2576  the 1083 1088 1120 -hsync +--addmode virtual-0"1920x1080_60.00" 

Note: These two commands are the same as the previous two commands.

After the change is complete, save the exit.

sudo reboot verify that the settings are correct.

Configure the networkCompany Agent online may appear problems

1. First ensure that two virtual machine services are started: VMware NAT service, VMware DHCP service. (Win+r input services.msc to view)

2. System settings, network, Agent configuration (4 all to configure), apply to the entire system

3. After the above operation is completed, the browser will be able to surf the Internet by using the System Agent, but the terminal apt-get can not use, ping different extranet

Method One: Temporary scheme

If you only need to use Apt-get with HTTP proxy temporarily, you can use this method.

Before using Apt-get, enter the following commands in the terminal (replace Yourproxyaddress and proxyport as appropriate for your situation):

Export http_proxy=http://yourproxyaddress:proxyport

Method Two: Only apt-get use the agent

This method uses the Apt.conf file under the/etc/apt/folder. You can use this method if you want Apt-get (not other applications) to always use the HTTP proxy.

* Note: In some cases, the APT profile is not established during system installation. The following actions modify an existing configuration file or create a new profile, as appropriate. * 

sudo gedit/etc/apt/apt.conf

Add the following line to your apt.conf file (replace yourproxyaddress and ProxyPort, depending on your situation).

Acquire:: Acquire::acquire::ftp::P Roxy "http://yourproxyaddress :p Roxyport "; Acquire::socks::P Roxy "Http://yourproxyaddress:proxyport";

Save the apt.conf file.

Method Three: All applications

This method adds two lines to the. bashrc file in your home directory. You can use this method if you want apt-get and other applications, such as wget, to use HTTP proxies.

Gedit ~/.BASHRC

Add the following at the end of your. bashrc file (replace yourproxyaddress and ProxyPort, depending on your situation).

Save the file. Close the current terminal and then open another terminal.

Test the agent with Apt-get update or any of the network tools you want to use. I use Firestarter to view active network connections.

If you modify the configuration file again to correct the error, remember to close the terminal and reopen it, and the settings will not take effect.

Ubuntu16.04 Basic Configuration

1. Software update in Settings--replace the source of the software in a domestic image source such as Aliyun

2. Remove unused software such as LibreOffice in the software Center

3. System Updates

sudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get upgrade

4. Modify Host Name

vi /etc/hostname

5. Install Sogou Input method, WPS and other common software
