A recent survey by the Intel Data Center management solution, DCM and Dell, shows that almost half of it executives are not fully aware of the changes that are taking place in their data centers. Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solutions are key to understanding how data centers work efficiently, but only 53% of IT managers are using this approach. DCIM Solutions can provide important information about the use of heat and energy in the data center, and can use this information to provide actionable solutions to further save data center operating costs.
The infographic below summarizes the joint survey, outlining best practices related to DCIM, including the use of energy management and monitoring tools, and the common goals that IT managers deploy with DCIM tools, such as reducing operating costs and focusing more on green. The DCIM program provides the simplest way to assess the changes that have taken place within the data center. Given that 44% and 37% of IT managers are plagued by energy and cooling problems each week, it is clear that we need to dig further and play the various advantages of DCIM.
