In response to the ever-increasing number of smart devices, applications, and data, wireless networks are evolving rapidly, and the IEEE 802.11ad standard (also known as Wiig) will help.

In the past 10 years, we have seen the evolution of 802.11, while Wiig is a step change that adds a new 60 GHz band to existing products: 802.11n operates in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, while the new 802.11ac product operates in the 5 GHz frequencies.

By using three-frequency products (for example, 802.11n/ac + 802.11ad), Wiig opens the door for some applications and makes it possible for all smart devices to connect through high-speed Wi-Fi networks.

First, let's take a look at what wiggg is like.

Speed. The wiggg specification is used to support a speed of up to 7 Gbps, but this is just the beginning. Using some of the basic technologies we have seen in. 11n and. 11ac, we may achieve a speed of up to Gbps in the next few years.

Although 11ac can achieve 8x8 MIMO, 256 QAM modulation, and channel binding for four 40 MHz channels, however, 11ad can achieve the same speed through a spatial stream, 64-QAM modulation, and a single channel.

With all technologies (Channel binding, MIMO, and higher modulation) that have been used to improve the performance of traditional frequencies over the past decade by 802.11, the Wi-Fi industry can easily achieve faster speeds.

There is a metaphor in the industry: the current 60 GHz technology is equivalent to the ". 11b stage" of technological evolution ". We are opening up an exciting technology roadmap. We will use mature technologies and new technologies to develop Wiig to new heights.

High Capacity. 16-32 antenna element arrays produce real space separation and make high-capacity wireless deployment a reality.

The same area of a single 2.4 GHz antenna module can contain 32 or more 60 GHz antennas.

The wave number formation with such a large antenna array can allow highly targeted communication and allow multiple devices to run in the same room without interfering with each other.

Transmission without infection can increase the capacity. In most omnidirectional radio technologies, the total bandwidth is divided by the number of users, which is dilution calculation rather than addition calculation.

The most energy-efficient Wi-Fi technology. 802.11ad can achieve: only a few hundred kilowatts of total system power, the actual throughput can reach several gigabytes per second, which makes 802.11ad the most energy-saving technology in Wi-Fi.

Power consumption between 60 GHz radio and traditional Wi-Fi products in traditional Frequencies

Receiving data processing is the biggest energy consumer, not the sending Power Amplifier

With only 0.5 Watts, we can build a complete system, generate 20 + dBm effective omnidirectional radiation power (EIRP), and maintain 4 Gbps connections, and integration for mobile phones/tablets.

Free Space speed/range. Antenna Gain and wide channel offset path loss, which can achieve high speed, even in the case of low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR. 100 feet 2 Gbps is easy to implement.

One of the biggest misunderstandings about 60 GHz is that it covers a small area.

There is no coverage problem at 60 GHz. In fact, within the visible range, 60 GHz has a better speed/range than any Wi-Fi technology

But 60 GHz is indeed congested. It can send signals instead of passing through most walls or through groups. Therefore, although 60 GHz has an optimal speed/range, it usually has to find an indoor launch path within this range to achieve its goal.

Coverage. Some new technologies are required when discussing the performance of wig. The standard speed/Range Chart is familiar to everyone, but it is not applicable here.

Users can get a 2 Gbps speed at a distance of 100 feet, or smart acquisition of 1 Gbps at a distance of 10 feet due to interference.

For Wiig, we are talking about coverage. In a typical room, how long can I reach a specific rate? For example, in a meeting room, 65% can be 4 Gbps, 80% can be 2 Gbps, while 95% can achieve 1 Gbps.

Very low latency. Round-trip latency of about 10 microseconds is reasonable, comparable to the latency of wired networks.

Compared with wired networks, wiggg has a very low latency. This is very important because the latency between the wireless network and the wired network is very close, and you can make the system run on the wired network. If the system thinks it is using a wired network, you can reuse the software developed for the wired network.

For example, WBE can run the PCIe bus in the air to seamlessly reuse the developed host controller and device driver.

To sum up, wiggg provides unparalleled original speed, strong anti-interference ability, good coverage, high-capacity network, and multi-gigabit throughput within the handheld power range, and the latency close to the wired network. In view of these advantages, wiggg is very suitable for a wide range of application deployment, from a three-Frequency Network (2.4/5/60 GHz) to wireless storage and edge ultra-high-speed cache, and then to wireless connection. Currently, products using wiggg can be found in the market, including multiple super SKU and wireless connection stations. More products will be available in the future.
