Iometer-I/O performance testing tool

Iometer is a free software developed by Intel. It is mainly used for testing disk subsystems and network I/O performance on Windows and Linux platforms. The following is a brief introduction to this tool. Iometer uses dynamo to generate multiple Io tests (which can imitate database servers, file servers, website servers, etc.). Each dynamo is called a manager. There are multiple workers under each manager, and worker is the dynamo thread. For example, worker1 is used to test disk Io and worker2 is used to test network Io. The iometer interface is as follows:
Make a simple experiment to demonstrate iometer usage-test the disk I/O performance of the notebook.
1) Add a worker and automatically name it WORKER 1. (Note: The Yellow icon indicates the Logical Disk. If it is a physical disk, the icon is blue .)
2) Select C: Win to test the IO performance of the system disk. Retain the default parameters. You can find the specific parameters in the manual. For example, maximum disk size is used to control the generated iobw. tst file size. By default, iometer will generate an iobw under the test disk. tst file, and gradually increase the capacity, and finally fill the target disk. (Note: press Ctrl or shift to select multiple logical disks .)
3) Select default on the "Access specifications" Page and add it to the left-side pane. The default test content is 33% iops write test, 67% iops read test, and the transfer file size is 2 kb. These parameters can be customized. You can set them according to your specific environment. I am still exploring how to set reasonable values in different environments. Thank you for sharing your experience!
4) on the "results display" Page, select the update frequency, which is set to 10 seconds. Select "Start of test" to display the average value from the start to the last test, and "Last Update" to display the value of the last test. The author retains the default "Start of test ".
5) You can set the test time and other complex functions on the "test setup" page. The author chooses to test for 30 minutes.
6) Click the green flag button to start the test, and select the Save location of the test result *. CSV file.
7) the test starts. The remaining time is displayed in the lower right corner. Click >Button to view more information, such:
