Many project managers work very hard. Once they arrive at the site, they will start to carry out research work as planned. Although this spirit is commendable, the method is worth further discussion.

In fact, the first thing we plan to do at the site is not to start the survey, but to re-confirm the survey plan.

There are three reasons for doing so:

First, although many companies have verbally recognized the plan with you over the phone, only when the investigators arrive at the site will they really pay attention to it. Therefore, we must re-confirm the plan, ensure that the research and cooperation resources required for our plan have been implemented;

The second validation survey plan is often not confirmed with the Facilitator. You should take the initiative to take this opportunity to see the executives in charge of the company. In many cases, the company will also arrange this meeting. Three important things should be done to meet executives:

  I. Report on our plan, ask them to confirm it again, and ask them to coordinate resource arrangement personnel.

Remember, one of the most effective ways to communicate with leaders is "more requests and more reports ". According to my personal experience, the average person who has read the report is not as impressed as what has been reported orally. The report is also a means to establish a way for the person who agrees with us.

Most of the time, the investigators do not want to cooperate with us for research, because this may affect their normal work or have other concerns. Therefore, when the research work is a task arrangement of the leadership, they are highly motivated to cooperate.

In many cases, the leader cannot complete all the work immediately. In particular, the leader can be asked to configure a special contact person for his work. If possible, they are also required to participate in the whole survey. Such a person will bring great convenience to the survey.

  2. Reporting our research work methods makes executives feel that we are doing things well and asking them to make suggestions and make custom adjustments.

While reporting the plan, we should also inform our executives of our research work methods, what we should do first, what we should do later, how we should start every day, how much time we should spend on research, and how much time we should spend on organizing, whether to hold a business analysis meeting and who needs to attend the meeting.

When the leaders understand your ideas, they will know that our daily work will be full and organized, and we will have confidence and positive support for the research work.

In addition, the leader may make some requirements, such as training or other requirements. We can determine whether or not to proceed based on the actual situation. In this case, you may need to adjust the content and time in the plan.

3. Take the opportunity to report to the leaders to learn their original intentions.

Most of the time, leaders look at a project from a different angle and height than our bottom-layer research personnel. At this time, they will share their thoughts on the project with the leaders, it helps us determine whether some business needs are really in line with the ideas of enterprise leaders during our research work, and we can look for better solutions.

From the perspective of research, understanding the needs of different personnel for the same project is also a part of the research work. The leadership is often a management thinking, and the business layer is often a technical thinking. Only when two kinds of thinking reach an agreement can a good solution be designed. These are all obtained through research.

Third, we should discuss with executives how to report the work.

If you cannot report to a leader every day for a period of time, you can ask the leader to arrange a report in person or in writing every few days.

Meeting with the leaders and communicating with them in a positive tone will help the leaders continuously strengthen their positive impressions on us and gradually shift their emotional balance to a favorable aspect for us.

However, for the first time, you must be concise and do not express yourself.

It can be said that the goal can be achieved by building a sense of personal professional identity for the leadership. For a person who thinks that there are professional skills, he will certainly continue to provide opportunities to meet each other, so don't try to do it all at once. This is a very harmful idea.

It is a more secure and reasonable strategy to collect sufficient facts during the survey process and determine whether to gradually raise the door adjustment based on the situation to express your own ideas.

There may be a time uncertainty when you meet executives. Therefore, we should try our best to ensure this time when confirming the plan in the survey preparation phase. If the on-site time cannot be guaranteed, we must keep the possibility of mobile adjustment. In general, we can carry out the Enterprise history and current situation, business Research on network hardware, organizational units, and other aspects can also provide materials for leaders to meet and communicate with each other.

In addition, executives are not necessarily the top leaders of an enterprise. They are determined dynamically based on the enterprise scale and project scale, generally, the principle of reporting to executives is that the person directly responsible for the project is superior or above.

When an enterprise is large, there is not only one senior executive. If some reports are necessary, repeat them and do not give others a feeling of disrespect.
