I am very pleased to tell you that the OpenSolaris project is now open and we welcome you to join our new community website: www.opensolaris.org
When you visit the site you'll see we have the OpenSolaris source code, a new source browser, build tools, documentation, A community portal, mailing lists, blogs, and much more.
When you visit this site, you will see that we have OpenSolaris source code, a new source browser, building tools (i.e. compiling and creating build tools), documentation, a community portal.
There is many ways for developers to immediately start contributing to the project, such as testing code, fixing bugs, do Cumenting processes, and suggesting rfes. You can also follow the technical conversations among Solaris engineers and the community on the long-term co-development Model. Additionally, Sun is collaborating with the OpenSolaris Community Advisory Board (CAB) on the overall governance proposal -which'll is debated, iterated, and ratified in the open right on opensolaris.org.
This provides a number of ways for developers to immediately start contributing to the project, such as testing code, modifying bugs, document flow, and suggesting enhancements to new features. You can also follow the technical conversation between the Solaris engineers and the community in a long-term writing development model. In addition, Sun is working with OpenSolaris's Community advisory board to collaborate on global management – arguing, repeating, and approving open rights for opensolaris.org.
There is also 145 OpenSolaris Pilot program participants from around the world who has been working with Sun for nine mo Nths on the project. They has detailed knowledge of the code and tools, so many of them-in collaboration with engineers at Sun-can help Ed Ucate new community members. The meet these developers is the project's main discuss list.
There are also 145 participants from the OpenSolaris pilots who have worked with Sun for 9 months on this project. They have detailed knowledge of the code and tools, and many of them-working with Sun's engineers-can buy members who help educate the community. The best place to meet these developers is the project's main discussion list.
The OpenSolaris source base is large, around million lines, and if you go to http://blogs.sun.com you'll see hundreds of OpenSolaris engineering blogs from across Sun's engineering community explaining in detail the code they has written. The amount of technical content in these engineering blogs are impressive, and you can expect even more as we go. You can also find those blogs, as well as the pilot community blogs, at opensolaris.org.
OpenSolaris's base code is very large, probably tens of thousands of lines, but if you go to http://blogs.sun.com you will see hundreds of OpenSolaris engineers blogging, where the entire sun's engineering community is explaining the code details they write. In these engineering journals a large amount of technical content is impressive and you can expect to get more. You can also find these blogs in the Navigator community and opensolaris.org.
And finally, we have tried to make the OpenSolaris project a where engineers talk directly to engineers. It is just the first step in the process, and we welcome your involvement. This was a community that takes collaboration and quality seriously. It's a community that have a lot of offer, and it's a community that ' s open minded. Come Join us.
Finally, we have tried to make the OpenSolaris project a place for engineers to talk directly to engineers. However, this is only the first step in this process and we welcome your participation. This is a community that is serious about collaboration and talent, a community that can be given a lot of community, an open mind. Come and join us.
Best,
Jim Grisanzio Community Manager, OpenSolaris http://blogs.sun.com/jimgris
