LAN protocol settings for Network Management

When I got to work early in the morning, my colleague Zhang rushed to my office and said that all the four computers they bought yesterday had problems, this may be my recommended gb cpu and MB memory brand machine. How can this problem be solved. What are the questions? He said that neither the network nor the LAN could be connected. Alas, this was the case, and I was relieved. The problem must be that no communication protocol was set. In the past, I opened Network Properties and saw it empty. No wonder this is the case. Www.2cto.com
Some protocols in the LAN are automatically installed when the operating system is installed. If you install Windows 2000 or Windows 95/98, the system automatically installs the NetBEUI communication protocol. When NetWare is installed, the system automatically installs the IPX/SPX communication protocol. Among the three protocols, NetBEUI and IPX/SPX can be directly used without any configuration after installation, but TCP/IP must be set as necessary. Therefore, the following describes how to install, set up, and test the TCP/IP protocol in Windows 2000. The related operations in other operating systems are basically the same as those in Windows 2000, it is even simpler.
1. The TCP/IP communication protocol is installed in Windows 2000. If no TCP/IP communication protocol is installed, select start/set/control panel/network and dial-up connection ", right-click "Local Connection" and select "properties". The "Local Connection Properties" dialog box appears. Click "Install" in the dialog box and select the TCP/IP protocol. (1) click Add. The system will ask if you want to set "DHCP server? If the IP address in your LAN is fixed (this is generally the case), you can select "no ". Then, the system starts to copy the required files from the installation disk. Figure 1 www.2cto.com 2. TCP/IP communication protocol settings in the "network" dialog box, select the installed TCP/IP protocol and open its "properties ", the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Attribute" dialog box appears. (2) enter the allocated "ip address" and "subnet mask" at the specified position. If you do not know, ask the network administrator. We recommend that you write down this number before installing the system. If you want to access other Widnows 2000 network resources, you can also enter the gateway address in "Default Gateway. Figure 2 3. TCP/IP communication protocol test when the TCP/IP protocol is installed and configured, the test must be performed before use to ensure its normal operation. I suggest you use the system's built-in tool program: PING Command, which can check whether any user is connected to other users in the same network segment, and whether the connection is normal with users in other network segments, you can also check whether your IP address conflicts with the IP addresses of other users. If the IP address of the server is 190.201.2.1, to test whether your machine is connected to the server, you only need to switch to the DOS prompt and enter the command "PING190.201.2.1. If "Reply from 190.201.2.1…" is displayed ......" (3) the TCP/IP protocol works normally. If the message similar to "Request timed out" is displayed, the TCP/IP protocol settings of both parties may be wrong, or other network connections (such as NICs, hubs, or connections), you need to further check. In Figure 3 of www.2cto.com, Lao Zhang's "problem" is solved. I also want to say a few more words. When setting up a LAN, the network communication protocol depends on the network size, network compatibility, and network management. If you are creating a small single network segment and there is no external connection, you 'd better select the NetBEUI communication protocol. If you are migrating from NetWare to Windows 2000, or if the two platforms coexist, IPX/spx and its compatible protocols provide a good transmission environment. If you are planning an efficient, interconnected, and scalable network, TCP/IP will be the ideal choice. In addition, if an operating system is re-installed on a machine on the network or a new machine is added to the network, the communication protocol must be re-installed for the machine to enjoy the resources on the network.
