Large Data Virtualization 0 starting point (iv) deploying vcenter Server Virtual Appliance 5.1

In the second step of the large data virtualization 0 starting point, we completed the vSphere5.1 installation. Next, we can start step three-deploy Vcenterserver Virtual Appliance 5.1.

Before I start the deployment, I'd like to introduce what Vcenterserver Virtual appliance (VSVA) to give you an idea of the purpose and value of deploying it.

As the name suggests, Vsva is essentially vcenterserver, but its deployment pattern has become vapp form. In this form, Vsva retains the vcenterserver features, including the ability to manage multiple ESXi hosts, consolidate server resources, build virtualized clusters, and provide enterprise-level features including Ha, VMotion, ft, and SSO. The following figure illustrates the relationship between Vcenterserver and ESXi hosts.

In addition, users can access the management interface provided by vsphereclient or WebClient through their desktops to manage and manipulate vcenter Server. These clients and vcenterserver work together to control and manage multiple ESXi hosts, consolidate their resources, or be clustered and data centers by a host of hosts. The difference between vsphereclient and WebClient is that Vsphereclient is based on the desktop, and WebClient is browser-based.

In fact, the installation of Vcenter server is very simple, a total of the following steps:

1. Open vsphere Client

2. Select Menu "File–deploy OVF Template"

3. Browse for OVA files found in vcenter Server appliance.

4. Provide vcenter name

5. Select the datastore where the installation is located

6. Use the default disk format

7. Provide network installation information, such as IP address, DNS, mask and so on.

8. Check power on and complete the installation wizard.

After the installation is complete, we start vcenterserver and then configure using the console login Vcenterserver.
