VSphere Storage Appliance Introduction

Using vsphere Storage appliance in a sans-free vsphere environment allows you to create shared storage on local storage to implement some of the advanced features of vsphere, such as Vmotion,drs, and high Availability (HA), The ultimate goal of implementing VSA is to save small and midsize businesses the cost of building an entire San without sacrificing some of the advanced features of vsphere. VSA is created using local storage on two or three ESXi5 hosts

A VSA storage Cluster, this Cluster provides shared storage for NFS mode. In addition, VSA leverages the hardware RAID10 array on the ESXI host and the data replication capability on the cluster to achieve even one of the ESXI nodes

or disk corruption, the entire shared storage can continue to function during the recovery process.

Preparation environment:

1) Install Ready VCenter 5.0

2) Install two ESXi hosts, original default configuration, and add to the DC of vCenter

3) Each ESXi host must be a single local storage

4) network configuration is also the default condition
