Knowledge Point: What is Network Level authentication.

Network Level Authentication (NLA) is a new authentication method that completes user authentication before you establish all Remote Desktop connections and displays the logon screen. This is the safest authentication method that helps protect a remote computer from hacking or malware attacks.

The advantages of NLA are:

Initially, fewer remote computer resources are required. Before authenticating a user, the remote computer uses limited resources instead of starting all Remote Desktop connections, as in previous versions. It helps provide better security by reducing the risk of denial of service attacks. (Denial of service attack attempts to restrict or prevent access to the Internet.) Use remote computer authentication to help prevent users from connecting to remote computers that are set up for malicious purposes.
