In Windows XP, the system uses Search Companion to perform search operations on files and folders, printers, users, and other network computers. But many friends do not like Windows XP's Search Companion, and they prefer to use the concise search interface in Windows 2000 for search lookups. You can then turn off Windows XP Search Companion to use the Windows 2000 search interface by using the following method.
Click the start → Run command, enter "regedit" in the open edit box, and then open "register [screened ads]"
Table Editor, locate the "hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\crrentversion\explorer\cabinetstate" primary key, and under that key, create a new name, "use Search Asst String value and assigns it as "no".
When you close the Registry Editor, you will see the Windows 2000 concise search interface when you enter the Windows XP search interface again.
