Google released an API to allow other websites to log in with Google's own account. Google announced at the beginning of this year that they will become openid providers like Yahoo and Microsoft.
The first large website to log on with a Google account is zoho. This online office suite can log on directly with a Google account without creating a zoho account. Currently, Google provides a trial of its APIs. You can download the Google openid API here.
Google mentioned in an official blog that users need to create separate access accounts for each website, but users prefer to skip this step, if you use a set of accounts to access all websites, the website can provide a better experience for their users. Of course, this is the original intention of openid.
Like other companies that support openid, Google's role is a one-way identity Provider. In other words, if you want to use openid to log on to Google
Services such as Gmail, Docs, and reader are currently unavailable. The Yahoo method is similar to Google.
In addition to zoho, The openid website also provides services such as plaxo (Google also supports plaxo ).
