MacBook for Hard Drive System

At first, I planned to use ghost, and later I tried time machine. I encountered some problems. I also saw some methods on the Internet, but I was unable to proceed due to my actual situation, maybe these materials are too old, and my current system is too new. Finally, I used this simplest method and it was absolutely safe. So I wrote such a blog here, hoping to help some people. I have to prepare some extra hardware in my method. These items are cheap now: a hard disk box (dozens of 20 yuan enough), an 8 GB or more USB flash drive (also dozens of yuan ).

In fact, if you have a boot disc for Mac OS X mountain lion, you can also use a USB flash drive instead of a USB flash drive. If you do not have one, you may think of a new one, unfortunately, the size of the mountain lion installation image is a little larger than that of a single-layer DVD. If you do not copy the image, the previous version of lion can still be engraved. If you do not have a USB flash drive, you can use an 8 GB or more memory card reader instead. Open "disk tool" (you can enter "disk tool" in spotlight to see it), such:

On the recovery tab, attach the USB flash drive to the target disk, and select Mac as the source disk. OSX. mountainlion. v10.8.dmg: click "Recover" to create a USB flash drive. The program will remind you that this operation will erase all data on the target disk, the disk will be created in 10 minutes. (I intercepted it later. Maybe you noticed that the capacity of my "U disk" is not enough to create the installation disk. The U disk I used to create the boot disk borrowed)

Next, place the new hard disk of GB into the mobile hard disk box and connect it to the computer. This is also applicable to the "disk tool" to divide it into a partition. Then restart the computer and press the "option/ALT" key during startup. The screen that selects the boot device appears. Select the new USB flash drive, select "OS X utility" from the menu, and then select "Disk utility ":

Copy the volume under the GB hard disk (my hard disk is divided into only one volume) into the "source disk", and then roll the volume under the GB hard disk into the "Destination disk ", click "Restore "......

Then wait ...... This time is not short.

I spent more than 60 GB of content for more than two hours. Later I found that, in fact, some movies and MP3 files can be deleted beforehand, which may increase the speed. You may want to ask: Why do you need to create an additional USB flash disk? Why can't the source system start the disk tool by pressing "option/ALT" during boot and selecting repair? Yes, the disk tool can be started, but you find that you cannot use the source system partition as the "source disk". The disk tool has this restriction, so you need to create an additional USB disk boot.

After a long wait ...... After that, if everything is okay, shut down, remove the old hard disk, install the new hard disk, unplug the USB flash disk, and start it. It may take a long time for the first time, as the boot device changes, it takes some time for the computer to find the boot device (I guess, select your new system disk in "boot disk" in "system preference settings", and then click "restart... "button to complete the final settings.

Why is this method the safest? Because the source disk has never changed. If the data is damaged, you can still use the source disk in the worst case.

Maybe you still want to know how fast it will be after you replace the 5400-to-7200-to-hard disk? To be honest, although the duration of each boot is not the same, it is indeed a little faster, and the actual use process also feels a little faster. Although it is not so obvious, this is a better improvement, I still cannot compare it with SSD.
