Machine Vision series-differences between industrial cameras and general cameras

Industrial cameras are indeed expensive. Differences between industrial cameras and ordinary cameras (DSC:

(1) Industrial cameras have very short shutter times and can capture fast moving objects.

For example, if you stick your business card on the fan blade and rotate it at the maximum speed, capture an image with an industrial camera to clearly identify the font of your business card. Shooting with a general camera is impossible. The technical problems here are quite tricky and I will not go into detail here.

(2) Industrial cameras use image sensors for line-by-line scanning. Generally, camera image sensors use line-by-line scanning or even line-by-line scanning.

Line-by-line scanning of image sensors is difficult to produce, with low yield and smaller shipments. Only a few companies in the world can provide such products, such as dalsa and Sony, and they are expensive. The price of one million-level row-by-row CCD ranges from RMB 4000 to RMB 30 thousand. There are many technical parameters, and we will not repeat them here. Only image sensors scanned by row can clearly capture and quickly perform work.

(3) The shooting speed of Industrial cameras is much higher than that of general cameras.

Industrial cameras can take 10 to several hundred images per second, while general cameras can only take 2-3 images, with too many differences.

(4) Industrial cameras output raw data, which has a wide spectral range and is suitable for high-quality image processing algorithms, such as machine vision) application. However, the spectral range of images taken by ordinary cameras (DSC) is only suitable for human eyes, and the image quality is poor after MJPEG compression.
