In addition to containing ADMX files, the ADMX folder contains folders in different languages, which are language resource files (ADML) that are used with ADMX files that do not contain language information. One of the advantages of the ADMX file is that GPE does not need to save these files in the SYSVOL portion of each GPO in the domain.

Vista and Windows 2008 Access ADMX are available in two ways. The first is to copy the ADMX file to the Policydenfinitions file under the Windows installation file, and also to copy the language resource file (ADML) to the Policydenfinitions language folder.

The second type is centralized storage. You can set up a folder in the Sysvol file of the DC to put ADMX, so that all administrators in the domain can start GPE to get the files.

To create the. admx and. adml files in one repository, create a folder named PolicyDefinitions in the following location:

\\FQDN \sysvol\ FQDN \policies

For example, to create a hbycrsj.gov.cn domain to centralize in one repository, create a PolicyDefinitions folder in the following location:

\\hbycrsj.gov.cn\SYSVOL\hbycrsj.gov.cn\Policies.

Then copy all ADMX files and corresponding language folders under the ADMX folder to this PolicyDefinitions folder.
