· Mosaic Dataset
A new data model mosaic dataset was introduced in ArcGIS 10, which is somewhat similar to raster catalog to manage multiple grids. In addition, whether in file Geodatabase or in ArcSDE, mosaic dataset can keep the data externally and only store the reference of the data in Geodatabase, you will find that loading data in mosaic dataset is very fast. In other words, mosaic dataset is used to manage existing raster data (whether it is file storage or warehouse receiving.
In ArcSDE, the mosaic dataset model is actually stored in some related tables:

Among them, amd _ _ Art [1] Table store the historical information of the raster stored in mosaic dataset; amd _ The _ BND table stores the boundary information of the grid (Note: BND = boundary instead of band); amd _ _ Cat table stores all the raster data information; amd _ _ CSL table stores the grid unit information; amd _ _ The log table stores all the log information and other amd _ _ CCA, amd _ _ Ovr and other related tables. In general, the data volume of the mosaic dataset model stored in the database is small.
[1] Represents the name of the mosaic dataset, which must be within 22 characters.
