Google's SEO expert Matt Cutts, speaking at the PubCon conference in Las Vegas, said Google was testing an algorithm that could detect "what is really important in a Web page, and how much of it is mixed up in other unimportant content". At the same time, Cutts also warned the webmaster said:

If you use ads to confuse useful content on a Web page, you might want to think about it. Do users really see what they need, or what they are distracted or annoying about?

There have been predictions that Google's panda algorithm is already punishing Web pages with a lot of advertising content, but it appears that Google has not yet been ruthless about the Web pages that confuse content with ads, but the end of the spam pages is not far off.
