MED-V enhances distribution and management of Virtual PC images, provides a seamless user experience for programs in VPC, MED-V by combining with Microsoft Virtual PC on a local client, allows you to create, distribute, and centrally manage Virtual PC images.

Main applications:

To solve the compatibility problem between the old version of the application and the new version of the operating system, the MED-V can run the old version of the OS (Windows XP or Windows2000) virtual PC to deliver some applications that are not compatible with the system to the client, such as using ie6.0 in Virtual PC under the Vista client. In this way, users can benefit from the new version of the operating system, and can run some programs of the old version of the operating system from the Start Menu, to maximize the user's seamless experience.

Another feature of MED-V is the ability to centrally manage Virtual Machine image files while virtual machine operations and data processing are done on the client side, which is different from VMware and Citrix's virtual desktop solutions: image Storage management and operation are completed on the server. The client only needs to provide operation instructions and return the displayed results.

Installation environment

Server: Windows Server 2008 Standard/enterprise x86 & 64 bits

2 GB memory, 2 GHz CPU or above

SQL server2005 Enterprise Edition SP2

SQL 2008 express/standard/Enterprise

Install IIS and Add. Net extensions and bits Components

Open the mdop package installer management and choose to install it. If I use 64 bits, I will select 64 bits. If you use 32 bits, I will select 32 bits.

Finsh finished, then open the MED-V Server Configuration Manager in start-Program-med-V and switch to the next tab ,.

Select the path of the image file. c is the default path, but you only need to enter the path that the image file can be accessed through HTTP. I will write it here and set IIS later, because my server name is mis7 and the path is intended to be a virtual images, I wrote it. Then we switch to the next tab to see the settings.

If you do not need to set the two, click OK to save the configuration,

Click Yes. The tool is automatically disabled after the service is restarted.

Here, this IIS is used to add a virtual website with the path images. The physical path points to the folder on drive C.

Click the bits tab on the images folder to allow upload.

Create two mini types on the default website. One is. CKM (Application/octet-stream)

One is. Index (Application/octet-stream)

Now the server is installed. Install the XP system in the VPC.

Install VPC on the client, patch kb958162, confirm version 210, and install. NET Component SP2

And install Virtual Machine add-on in the Virtual Machine

Open the workspace of the installation package and install it on the virtual machine.

Next step

Agree to the license agreement

Start to confirm Installation

Do not start the program, and then end the installation

Set the VM to not automatically restart

Install the program to be released, such as the PS of CC, and then run the tool

Enter the Administrator account and password for Automatic startup of the VM.

Confirm whether it is complete and continue

An error will be reported here, saying that there is something not included, but it is actually OK.

Disable the Virtual Machine and disable the disk detection.

The above is the installation and setup in the virtual machine, and the installation on the client is as follows,

Install. NET and V-PC,

Open the installation page and select install client components.

After installation, start the manger management tool.

Enter the account and password on the server, which can be an ad account and password.

In the open management interface, as to what the function of each option is, let's do the experiment first. OK. select DD, create a virtual template, delete the previous workspace, and change the new template to VM1.

Switch to the images button. Click the new button to add the search and file to the local test images and name it VM1.

Switch to the Policy tab, click the refresh button next to it, and then find the newly created VM1 in the drop-down menu.

Click the Application tab.

Right-click in the blank space and choose-add

Then add two programs. I didn't add double quotation marks or so on. The following is the release Start Menu. Enter the path as the \ symbol,

Return to the DEP option, Set permissions, and set Everyne to access virtual machine resources.

Then select Save Configuration

Then we open the med-vclient program.

Enter the same password

Select Test Image

Start to load the image. After loading, there will be something in the Start Menu. In addition, there will also be a checked icon in the tray area. Note that the V = Photoshop program icon does not exist and cannot be opened ., because the path does not contain double quotation marks

Open the PS of the Start menu and check it. You can call it. It is marked with a red box.

Save the modification with double quotation marks and reload the image.

You can see that the chart icon is displayed normally, and the icon is opened normally.

Since the image is okay, we quit the client program.

Then return to the Management Program and click testimage to package the image.

After packaging, the local packed images also contains content. Right-click and Select Upload to upload the image to the server.

Now that the upload is OK, we can go to other clients to install the medv client program, just be careful not to install the manger management tool.

After the installation is complete, open the med-V program and enter the password and press Enter.

Then use the image

Then, the first time you use the service, you need to perform six steps to index the local disk, download the image index, file, configure the image from the local index, and start the image.

Okay, it starts, and the content in the menu also appears.

Then start the PS, and the speed is also good.
